Salamanca
Our city is Salamanca, and
it is in the west of Spain,
 near the border with
Portugal. It has a lot of
 monuments from different
 centuries that show the
 different kinds of people
 who contributed to build
 Salamanca as it is today.
 Itis an attractive tourist destination.
  Salamanca, together with other
twelve cities in Spain, was declared
  Humankind Heritage.
 Salamanca was founded like most of the
cities, near a river and a hill. It was the
usual behaviour for fist settlements. The
settlers looked for a river to get the
necessary water and a hill to build
houses to be able to defend themselves
from every attacks. The river was in itself
    a natural “wall”.
 It is also very important for its university, one
of the oldest in Spain and Europe. The life of
the city has always been conditioned to
    the presence of students.
Its façade is the most visited and
photographied. It is a tradition to look
for the frog on the skull.
