Project Apollo aimed to advance technology, explore space, land on the moon, and study the lunar environment. Apollo 11 was the first successful lunar landing mission, where Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin spent 21.6 hours on the moon's Sea of Tranquility in 1969. Apollo 15 landed in the Hadley Apennine region in 1971, where astronaut James Irwin drove the Lunar Roving Vehicle. Apollo 17's mission in 1972 was to collect lunar samples and data using the battery-powered Lunar Rover.

2. President John F. Kennedy wanted NASA and other space programs to try to get to the moon. The objectives of Project Apollo were to advance technology, to be ahead in space explorations, to go up to the moon and experiment, and to make man’s work in the lunar environment.
