What is it?
When players
misuse or abuse
gameplay features

cause others
discomfort or harm,

Why do they do this?
These bad actors are
unlikely to be looking for
monetary gain, and it’s the
social aspect of the

● There are times for the algorithm, and there are times for nuanced
human review. Both are needed, in a balance, to succeed.
● We need to have clear monitoring of sentiment, to understand current
state and opportunities, along with the industry reporting.
New Frontiers Are Still a Gray Area (Coming Soon!)
● VR is coming quickly and is a big unknown. We need to understand those threats,
including gestures. More publishers need to adopt, in order to make this reality. 🥽
● Many advances in generative AI open up paths, but will be up to developers to create
meaningful apps. We can tap into the AI for many suggestive features. 🤖
● Tricky, nuanced global regulatory climate around privacy and access is going to be
something to continue to solve for. 🌎
● We tried our hand at mobile and VR to lackluster reception. Is it the right focus?

  • 9. How do they do it? Attacks can happen during gameplay, using features, such as voice chat or gesturing in VR environments. What is it? When players misuse or abuse gameplay features (e.g. chat), and cause others discomfort or harm, we are talking about individual bad actors Why do they do this? Bad actors can use sneaky techniques to “trick” and take over user control or access, steal keys, mask their ID, manipulate systems & penetrate or infiltrate networks; data leaks What is it? Adversarial abuse targets entire networks and their vulnerabilities Why do they do this? Mental health impacts can look like becoming more removed, anti-social in the real world, or depressed Why do they do this?   • 17. We Need To Be Proactive About Threats Employ market specialists We are global, but machines primarily understand and are trained on English language text. Employ market specialists, trained in the local cultural nuance and colloquial language. Partner with governments on training + enforcement Learn across multiple dimensions We can continue to partner across the industry to accomplish the goal. Harm is a threat everywhere, and we can get ahead of the game this way Develop principles to decide prioritization These can be simply to focus on Measuring, Being Proactive & Deployment
  • 18. To Win, Focus on Each Area of the Ecosystem & Align It to Values Principle: Deploy Focus on global community by establishing local market presence and keeping up with the community. Principle: Measure Respect and community should remain the default. We need to get ahead of key threats, by being gamer-first, and we need clear metrics and accountabilities in this space. Principle: Be Proactive Keep going: Partner with social networks, who are solving concrete problems in the trust space, and partner early with publishers

At Feature Level, It May Start to Look Like This Principle: Deploy Mental health check-ins 📞 from community + tools, 😡 sentiment analysis Community meetups with market specialists around the world Proactive feature beta testing Principle: Measure Analyze abuse vectors, e.g. global network threat map📍 + metrics showing community impact from reported actions Log, monitor and track northstar metrics around detection accuracy Industry transparency reporting Principle: Be Proactive Contextual AI intervention 🤖 on prompt words, including voice; risk factor detection tuned to prioritize degree of harm Educational interference / training during onboarding, where a user is forced to pay attention. More publishers need to adopt, in order to make this reality. 🥽 ● Many advances in generative AI open up paths, but will be up to developers to create meaningful apps. We can tap into the AI for many suggestive features. 🤖 ● Tricky, nuanced global regulatory climate around privacy and access is going to be something to continue to solve for. 🌎 ● We tried our hand at mobile and VR to lackluster reception. Is it the right focus?
