SOM-15B Disciples & Disciple Making SOM-15B Paradigm of the Subject This class will examine some successfultheoretical & practical discipleship models. It will also examine the relationship between the discipler & the disciple.
The Paradigm of the Subject Model of the Subject
The paradigm of the subject imagines the human subject as a lone thinker set against the objective world. “… an observer who analyzes & judges social relations is himself a participant in social life.” Benhabib Then Jesus said, “A man had two sons. … ‘My son was dead & has come back to life. He was lost but has been found.’ … ‘This brother of yours was dead but has come back to life. He was lost but has been found.’” Luke 15

I Thessalonians 4:3-8 It is God's will that you keep away from sexual sin as a mark of your devotion to him. Each of you should know that finding a husband or wife for yourself is to be done in a holy and honorable way, not in the passionate, lustful way of people who don't know God. No one should take advantage of or exploit other believers that way. The Lord is the one who punishes people for all these things. We've already told you & warned you about this. God didn't call us to be sexually immoral but to be holy. Therefore, whoever rejects this order is not rejecting human authority but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.

Matthew 5:27-30 "You have heard that it was said, 'Never commit adultery.’ But I can guarantee that whoever looks with lust at a woman has already committed adultery in his heart.  "So if your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose a part of your body than to have all of it thrown into hell. And if your right hand leads you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose a part of your body than to have all of it go into hell.
