- What are we talking about when we say Evolution and Revolution? Mini as evolutionary because while it dramatically shrunk the size of a car manufactured by replacing the longitudinal engine and rear axle for instead a transversely mounted engine and front wheel drive, it still relied upon the internal combustion engine. Tesla as revolutionary because it eschews the internal combustion engine for an electric motor that completely reimagines a car’s powerplant.
