SOLAR SYSTEM PERFORMANCE
Objectives:
 To learn the position of the planets (and the Sun) in the Solar System and some geological features
of each celestial body.
 To pronounce correctly some specific vocabulary.
 To work as a team using creativity and autonomy.
1. Divide the class into groups of around ten students.
2. Each group is going to represent the Solar System.
3. Name a coordinator in each group. The coordinator can name a helper.
4. Each student chose a roll (The Sun, Mercury, Venus, The Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus,
Neptune, Pluto, The Moon or any other satellites, it depends on the number of the members in
each group (9-12 students it´s ok)).
5. Each student chooses some sentences to his/her performance. He/ She has to write it, then they
will check his/her sentences (writing and pronunciation), with the help of the biology and English
teachers.
6. The groups will go to the pitch or any big space and they will create something like a choreography
simulating the rotation and revolution movements of the celestial bodies. They have to introduce
themselves as if they were a planet. Example: Hello, I´m Mars, I´m the fourth planet from the Sun. I
have two satellites; they are called Phobos and Deimos. They have to act in order from the Sun.
Apart from that, there are no rules and they can invent and use the creativity to do their own show.
7. It is better if they have the opportunity to practice the performance at least three times before the
selected day.
8. The performance´s day, each group will act and a teacher will film the performances. The final
product will be a video. The video is useful to correct the pronunciation and to do constructive
reviews.
