The Voyager space probe was launched in 1977 from Florida weighing 722 kilograms. Over 39 years it traveled beyond the solar system's outer planets to study and photograph Jupiter, Saturn, and their moons. Some of its images include the great red spot on Jupiter, Saturn and its rings photographed in 1980, and a volcanic eruption on one of Jupiter's moons captured in 1979.

2 months and 25 days
since its lauching.

2. MISSION: Locate and study the limit of the
Solar System, including the kuiper belt and
beyond. The Voyager was the first probe to
take images.
