Learn how to deliver software like Pivotal and Google.
In this one-day program, Pivotal and Google share how we deliver software applications. By demonstrating the capabilities of a cloud-native software organization, we’ll share the promises Pivotal Cloud Foundry can help you keep when combined with industry-leading services and infrastructure using Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
We built Pivotal Cloud Foundry so you can deliver software with increased velocity and reduced risk. Together we will share how to make the principles of Google’s Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) achievable on Pivotal Cloud Foundry. Google and Pivotal collaborated to make Pivotal Cloud Foundry a reliable place for your applications to live.
The day will open with an introduction to Pivotal, Google, and our shared partner ecosystem. Pivotal will share how culture and technology combine to reinforce each other. We will go hands-on to show you how easy it is to develop applications with Spring Boot, integrate with Google Cloud services, and use Concourse to automate shipping applications to Pivotal Cloud Foundry.
In the afternoon, we’ll show you how Pivotal Cloud Foundry operators can empower development teams by enabling GCP integrations in their Pivotal Cloud Foundry environment. We’ll then focus on the developer experience of integrating applications with GCP’s powerful services.

J-Spring 2018 - A journey from Java EE to Cloud Native microservicesVincent Oostindie
About a decade ago, when the world was still all about J2EE and WebSphere application servers, Rabobank introduced a new Online platform with a custom, intentionally self-built, portal framework. Since then our world has changed in many ways. Nobody does portlets anymore; instead we build rich front-end applications backed by services spitting out JSON. Like most of the rest of the world Rabobank moved from waterfall to Agile to DevOps. Microservices came along. Java is no longer the only preferred language on the server. Today, Rabobank is migrating to a new platform based on Pivotal Cloud Foundry, that intends to cope with all these changes. In this talk Vincent Oostindië will talk you through a decade of IT at Rabobank Online, of course focusing on the new platform and the underlying technologies used there, like Spring Boot and Spring Cloud Services.
Samtrafiken - Lessons learned from TrafiklabNordic APIs
Lessons learned from the first 2 years of the public transport API portal Trafiklab.se. Presented by Lars Löfquist (https://twitter.com/tvartom) from Samtrafiken (http://www.samtrafiken.se/) at Nordic APIs in Stockholm in March 2013.
Logic Apps Custom connectors are a great way to abstract your APIs and plug them into logic apps using a reusable connector pattern that is developer friendly. These connectors plug right into the logic apps designer to present a seamless experience. Whilst this uses API documentation to provide help with using the operations, they also use various security techniques.
Software-plus-Services is Microsoft's approach for the next generation of computing. It is a confluence of multiple industry phenomena including SaaS, SOA, and Web 2.0. This is more compelling than software OR service only approaches, bringing together the best of cloud-based services and the software that resides on a world of devices. Microsoft’s Professional Developer Conference is taking place in LA late October 2008 where the veil will be lifted on a lot of technologies that have been in development for a number of years.
This UNPLUGGED session has been created specifically for web focused developers to “get ready” for what is coming next. Nigel will discuss readiness and enhancements with Internet Explorer 8. Nigel will introduce Silverlight 2 and WPF 3.5 for developers focused on service enabled rich client development and then lead into a discussion on cloud based services including WCF, REST and JSON.
Devising Your Data Movement Strategy for IoTSolace
While there are many ways to manage the movement of real-time information between connected “things” and your enterprise systems, taking advantage of the open standards and tools at your disposal will give you the richest functionality and most flexibility. This presentation will cover relevant system requirements, and discuss protocol needs at the Fog, Edge and Core layers of an IoT solution. We’ll delve into real-world examples (like smart city and industrial IoT) to show how protocols and techniques like REST, MQTT, AMQP and JMS can be combined to link devices and applications across your cloud, fog, edge and on-premise systems.

Exploring Innovations in Data Repository Solutions - Insights from the U.S. G...Globus
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has made substantial investments in meeting evolving scientific, technical, and policy driven demands on storing, managing, and delivering data. As these demands continue to grow in complexity and scale, the USGS must continue to explore innovative solutions to improve its management, curation, sharing, delivering, and preservation approaches for large-scale research data. Supporting these needs, the USGS has partnered with the University of Chicago-Globus to research and develop advanced repository components and workflows leveraging its current investment in Globus. The primary outcome of this partnership includes the development of a prototype enterprise repository, driven by USGS Data Release requirements, through exploration and implementation of the entire suite of the Globus platform offerings, including Globus Flow, Globus Auth, Globus Transfer, and Globus Search. This presentation will provide insights into this research partnership, introduce the unique requirements and challenges being addressed and provide relevant project progress.
