The social studies department has several curriculum projects planned for the summer of 2008 including updating the grade 8 law seminar, exploring a new grade 12 government program, realigning the honors history assessments and curriculum, collaborating on a global education program focusing on Asia, revising the grade 12 economics portfolio, and creating new aligned assessments and digitizing the elementary curriculum.

Financial Education for School Youths Curriculum
There are still many prevalent problems surrounding the high school curriculum. This can be seen with
many teachers still struggling with students’ retention on subjects being taught, as well as students having
difficulty with test taking. A focal point with the matter is the subjects themselves that are taught, as both teachers
and students complain about how many of the school subjects do not object towards practical skill sets needed
towards real life. In several countries, students are taught subjects related to vocation, career, finances, and even
investment. A main reason as to why these countries suffer less from economic distress, as well as having more
successful outputs for students, is because financial education is well implemented into the high school curriculum.
The purpose for this paper is to show case studies of various countries showing success due to financial education
taught in schools, and to therefore prove the point that financial education is needed all around for the youth.

A great deal of information is available to help teachers improve their content understanding of civics and government; locate lesson plans, materials and activities for classroom use; and provide information about groups and organizations involved in citizenship and law related education efforts. This guide has been developed to help classroom teachers access this information.
The new Connecticut Elementary and Secondary Social Studies Frameworks identifies civics as one of the four key social studies disciplines (along with history, geography and economics) to be included in instruction at every grade level. For each of these disciplines, themes are identified that carry through the Frameworks for each grade level K-8 and for each high school course. The civics themes that are addressed are Civic and Political Institutions; Participation and Deliberation; and Processes, Rules and Laws.
Each of these themes is addressed throughout the school experience to be grade level and content topic appropriate. Increasingly sophisticated student expectations and compelling questions are included to guide the teacher development of inquiry activities.
It is hoped that this resource guide will be helpful to elementary and secondary teachers in planning effective inquiry lessons to help their students gain a better understanding of and a genuine interest in citizenship and government.
Connecticut Resource List Civics Teachers

more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
