Instructional Objectives:
The students will be able to point out what the six parts of Australia
are and will know different facts about each part of continent.
!
Anticipatory Set: I will discuss with the students the different parts of the
world and will ask the students if anyone has been to Australia. Then will go
into reading a book called Dingoes at Dinner Time (Magic Tree house
series) by Mary Pope Osborne. Once the Story is over will give students a
map of Australia; will discuss and label the parts of Australia as a class.
Students will be give pencils, crayons, markers to color in their map of
Australia once they have filled out the different territories. Then each student
will do A Report on Australia. As I talk about Australia I will write the notes
on the board and give the students a hand out with the important facts that I
went over in class about Australia.

Procedures:
1. I will read the book Dingoes at Dinner Time by Mary Pope Osborne in
an Australian Accent if I can.
2. Then once the story is over I will handout the Map of Australia and
will ask the students where the story we read took place and ask them
what part of Australia the story might of taken place in.
3. I will give students the name of the territories in Australia.
4. The students and can do a full report on Australia or interesting facts
they find about Australia.
5. Then I will give each student some time to look up information about
Australia so they can get write their country report on the country by
getting information on the poster boards I have made or the books that
are in class about Australia.
6. A Report on Australia will include information that the students have
researched on Australia. Then Students will present their information
to the class.

Closure:
Once students are done writing their Report on Australia or interesting
fact findings on Australia they will share them with the class. Students will
ask the person presenting their questions about what they found out about
Australia. Will give students class review of what we learned in class.

Accommodations:
!
Specific Learning Disability: For students I will give the assignment
called Did You Know. They get the Did You Know worksheet about
Australia that they found really interesting and these students will be given
more time to complete this assignment, so that they do not have to feel
rushed to finish the assignment. I will give students a set of directions that
are step by step for each assignment, so that they can refer to them while
doing the assignment and will also write the directions for each assignment
on the board. If any of these students need extra help I will assign them a
buddy to help that will be a student of a higher ability or a regular student
that the student gets along with.

Slow Learners: For students I will give the assignment called Did You
Know. They get the Did You Know worksheet about Australia that they
found really interesting and these students will be given more time to
complete this assignment, so that they do not have to feel rushed to finish the
assignment. I will give students a set of directions that are step by step for
each assignment, so that they can refer to them while doing the assignment
and will also write the directions for each assignment on the board. If any of
these students need extra help I will assign them a buddy to help that will be
a student of a higher ability or a regular student that the student gets along
with.

Autistic Students: For these students since their verbal communication is
not strong. They can do a poster with pictures of Australia with basic
information like the flag, capital, population, food, and sports. The get the
picture from the internet or magazine; since they will cut and paste the
pictures on the poster board it will help with their fine motor skills.

Gifted- High Ability Students:
For these students will have a Venn diagram that will compare Australia
to another country; to find the similarities and differences of the two
countries are, once they have gotten their research they will present it to the
class. Another option these students will have is that they can do A Report
on Australia except they will look for information about Australia that is
more detail. For example, these students will look for information on
Australia’s government, education system, natural resources, languages,
religion, economic, climate, languages, cultures, food, and traditions.
