INTRODUCTION
 Social media can be define as the platform
which is created for online activities. It is a
place or medium whereby commercial
activities are carried out for the benefit of the
universe.Examples are, Facebook,Twitter,
Instagram,WhatsApp e. t. c.
Social Media Manager
 Social media manager can be a distinct role in
larger organizations and is sometimes known
as social media coordination. In small and
medium sized companies, the role may be
combined with other marketing and
communications responsibilities. In agencies
the term social media account manager is
often used.
Responsibilities of the social
media manager
 As a social media manager, you will need to:
 Develop a social media strategy and set goals
to increase brand awareness and increase
engagement
 Manage all social media channels such as
facebook, twitter, pinterest and instagram
Responsibilities
 Write engaging blog posts and articles
 Form key relationship with influencers across
social media platforms
 Create engaging multimedia content and/or
outsource this effectively
 Manage junior staff such as a social media
executive or assistant
Responsibilities
 Regularly liase with clients via telephone,
email, conference calls or face to face
(agency role)
 Educate other staff on the use of social
media and promote it use within your
company.
Salary earnings
 As an assistant or junior social media manager
your starting salary is likely to be between
19,000E and 23,000E
 More experienced social media manager
typically earn between 25,000 and 40,000 Euro
 With substantial experience, your salary can
increase to 60,000 or more.
 Freelance rates vary depending on experience,
but typically range from 15 to 25 euro par hour.
QUALIFICATIONS
There are no set qualifications for becoming
social media manager, although many
entrants have a degree and some employers
require this. It is open to graduates from any
discipline, but the following subjects can be
particularly helpful:

 Marketing( particularly digital market)
 Media and communications
 Public relations
Qualifications
 If you have a degree, you can work towards a
relevant postgraduate qualifications, such as:
 Business intelligence and social media
 Digital and social media marketing
 Social media and interactive technologies
Skills needed as social media
manager
 A solid understanding of the use of a range of
social media platforms, particularly in relation
to advertising/branding and customers
 Strong editing and writing skills suitable for
each platform, from knowing how to write a
successful tweet to using effective
storytelling techniques
skills
 Creative skills for contributing new and
innovative ideas
 Strong verbal communication skills for
articulating ideas to colleagues and clients
 The ability to work well under pressure and
meet deadlines

 Data analysis skills and statistical prowess to
draw actionable insights

Social media management is a relatively new
role and there is no fixed career structure.
Nevertheless, you could progress in the first
ten years to more senior management roles
such as head of social media.You could also
consider moving into senior roles with a
broader digital communications remit.
