The document discusses using media to support victims of abuse and neglect. It provides examples of both traditional and new ways of engaging media, including getting interviewed in news outlets, writing blog posts, and using social media like Twitter and Facebook. The key recommendations are to have conversations on blogs and social platforms, share information through stories and links, and interact with people in an open and honest way to raise awareness of issues facing abuse and neglect victims.
Whizz-Kidz case study slides inspired by media140 third sector panelRob Dyson
I thought I'd upload some slides of case studies that I referenced during the panel 'Finding a voice...' at the Media140 third sector event on 4 Feb 2010. I've listened to some audioboos that talked about the benefits of sharing practical application (rather than talking about theory), so I hope this helps some orgs. Great event! Rob
This panel will address the role social media plays in the professional lives of four ceramic artists. We will discuss how we use various forms of social media to interact with customers, other artists and the art world.

In 2006, we first learned that even the brightest students were easily fooled by internet hoaxes like the Pacific Northwest Tree Octopus. While we tried to laugh this off as the folly of misguided youth, a decade later we witnessed the rise of fake news and its impact on the “post-truth” world of 2016 overrun by an ever-growing network of social media. To fight for truth, justice, and yes, even the American way, this session presents a collection of superhero-themed critical thinking activities designed to empower you and your students to conquer the evils of fake news.
Transmedia storytelling is the intentional integration of technology platforms and audience collaboration into a coordinated story. It creates an immersive participatory story experience which expands reach, increases persuasion and buy-in and builds an adaptable structure for a more sustainable campaign.

GDG Cloud Southlake #33: Boule & Rebala: Effective AppSec in SDLC using Deplo...James Anderson
Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.
Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

20. Written by Steven Tyler, “Janie’s
Got a Gun”:
is about a girl who
shoots her father because he is
sexually abusing her. Steven
Tyler wrote the lyrics after
reading an article about children

who had been killed by guns.
Watch “Janie’s Got a Gun” video on YouTube:

Steven Tyler originally wrote the song in his basement, which was when he
came up with the line "Janie's got a gun." He then sat on it for months,
"waiting for the oracle door to open." Tyler told Rolling Stone it only became
a song about child abuse after, "I looked over at a Time magazine and saw
this article on 48 hours, minute by minute, of handgun deaths in the United
States." He continued: "Then I got off on the child-abuse angle. I'd heard this
woman speaking about how many children are attacked by their mothers
and fathers. It was f---ing scary. I felt, man, I gotta sing about this. And that
was it. That was my toe in the door.“ (http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=1350)

Editor's Notes
I’m so glad to be here today. Honored to be asked to talk with you today about social media and helping victims of abuse and neglect. Just so you know a little about me, I am a social worker by training but did my undergrad work in political science. I’m a connector by nature—and training. My father was a masterful connector and I watched him for years, learning all along the way. I’ve been involved with public policy and local budget analysis and advocacy for 15 years and consulted with a number of DC organizations for the past couple of years. Got into social media as a result of boredom and haven’t looked back! 9/30/2011
I’m going to play the first bit of this song and the first person who can tell me what it is will receive a hand-made mug rug! I’ve made them to raise money for Safe Shores, DC’s Child Advocacy Center. I will donate $20 to Safe Shores.
In the old paradigm, the private sector was all about getting our message out, telling our story, pleading with journalists to cover a story we think was important. Lots of organizations spent a lot of time lamenting this in DC. The Washington Post editorial board told my old boss and a few other nonprofit leaders that interest in Metro news was dwindling, especially DC news. Thus less ink to the range of stories, not to mention stories WE cared about.
New organizations, on the other hand, pushed information out to the world.
In this new paradigm we are talking with each other rather than at each other. The new paradigm is about talking with one another, asking questions, providing answers in real time. Actually having a relationship!
