- 25. Lest we forget 11 million children will die of preventable causes this year. Millions of adults will die of hunger, poverty and disease
- 26. This is our responsibility. Our startups may not change the world. But our knowledge, connections and resources may. So in our lifetimes, we should try.

Editor's Notes
- We liken entrepreneurs to skydivers. They’re risk takers, wearing parachutes, jumping out of planes, and hoping their parachutes will open when they land. They’re willing to go to great lengths and always enjoy the ride in the process. When skydivers dive in groups, they make incredible formations and can do so many more things. If one of them is in trouble, there are others to help guide them to safety. The SLP logo on the next page signifies skydivers. The colors signify diversity. They’re jumping, and by joining hands, they’re forming a globe. This is our Global Network of Fellows

- One of our inspirations is John Wood, founder of Room to Read, who left Microsoft after he chanced upon a school in Nepal that had no books. He was so haunted by this memory, he went back with 3000 books on the backs of donkeys, a year later. He changed the way people think about education and charity. Villagers built libraries and later schools; he provided money and books. Villagers became extremely proud of these schools. SLP is like that. We provide the content, but the Fellows build the school, organize classes and do things they want. This is why our Fellows love SLP. It’s a different way of learning.
- SLP does not belong to its Founders, Mentors or Advisors. It belongs to the Fellows, who wield an enormous influence on the structure and content. Every year, Fellows run the program and everyone contributes 20 hours and at times much more to make a difference. New courses, simulations, all come from our Fellows. Everyone can carry our business card and logo, vote on things that we do. It is a democratic process.
- Especially of Gender. Also Experience. Also Race. Build classes with this in mind. (this is why we put very different people together. Because studies show diversity makes people creative, prepares them better for uncertainty, gives them a chance to see things in a different light. This is so important for entrepreneurs, who can get bogged down in rules, dos and don’ts)
- We don’t eat and drink at expensive places because entrepreneurs cannot always afford it. Even when they can, its not a good message to send. But our locations are classy, keeping in line with our branding which is cool and edgy (whether it is bars, restaurants or events). We also celebrate when we get deals on our Frames, when things happen for us inexpensively for for free. It is a message intended for our Fellows that they should conduct their own startups similarly.
- If you don’t attend 8 out of 10 classes, you will not graduate. If you do not attend 8 classes, but have done some amazing things that make us believe you are well trained, or have made a big impact on the SLP community, we will let you through. SLP is only as strong as its network, so we look to you to keep thi s
