Harmon Dobson founded Whataburger in 1950 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He started with a portable stand selling burgers for 25 cents and saw success expanding to multiple locations across Texas, Tennessee, and Florida. Dobson ran Whataburger as a sole proprietorship and later partnership with his wife Grace. After Dobson's death in 1967, his son Tom Dobson became president and moved headquarters to San Antonio, continuing to grow the Whataburger brand across the southern United States based on Harmon Dobson's vision of quality burgers and customer service.
This document discusses semantic coding of images for earth observation. It describes the Competence Centre on Information Extraction and Image Understanding for Earth Observation (COC), which aims to perform joint research on image understanding. It then discusses an approach to semantic image coding using visual words and bag-of-words representations classified with tools like LDA and SVM. This approach is implemented in a new OTB tool called cocSemanticCoding, which allows feature extraction, visual word quantification, and learning from manual annotations. Future work includes integrating other COC tools and developing new approaches for full image interpretation and knowledge modeling.
1. The document outlines key concepts from Chapter 6 on cells, including the importance of cells as the basic unit of structure and function in organisms.
2. It describes the tools used to study cells, including light microscopes, electron microscopes, and cell fractionation techniques. These allow observation and analysis of cellular structures down to the organelle level.
3. The document compares prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, noting that eukaryotic cells are generally larger and have internal membranes that compartmentalize functions, while prokaryotic cells do not.
The document discusses enhancing lectures with automated capture (ELTAC) at Coventry University. It notes that Echo 360 lecture capture software has been installed in 20 locations on campus and allows for podcasting and desktop recording. It also discusses developing policies around lecture capture, running trials with two faculty members, and providing staff resources and training to address challenges like legal and ownership issues, fears and uncertainties, and impacts on academic identity for students and lecturers. Potential approaches include creating forward-looking policies, offering resources and staff development, gaining informed consent, and understanding drivers and goals at both the institutional and individual classroom levels.
Geographic information systems (GIS) help visualize location data through digital maps and charts. GIS has its origins in maps from Babylonian times but the first true GIS was created in 1962 in Ottawa, Canada. Today, GIS is widely used in business and everyday life through applications like Google Maps. GIS represents data through raster grids and vector shapes and allows analysis of issues by integrating location data with other data sets. Businesses can use GIS to analyze factors affecting their customer base or make decisions based on spatial patterns in measurable characteristics.
The document summarizes a study conducted in Malawi that tested the effectiveness of a male-focused family planning intervention at increasing contraceptive uptake. The intervention involved training male motivators who then visited married men over 8 months, providing information on family planning and teaching communication and motivation skills. The study found that contraceptive uptake increased significantly more in the intervention group compared to the control group. Improved communication between men and their wives about family planning was correlated with higher contraceptive use. The study demonstrates the potential for male-focused programs to promote family planning.

Cross-sectional studies provide a snapshot of the prevalence of a disease or characteristic at a single point in time. They are advantageous because they require fewer resources than other study types and have a simpler design and less complex statistical analysis. However, cross-sectional studies only show associations and not necessarily causation, as they cannot establish the temporal relationship between an exposure and the onset of disease.
Brain Injury and Mental Illness: Symptom OverlapJulie Fronk
On June 28, 2016, Amy Daniel from Bridges: Northern Kentucky Brain Injury Support Group spoke about the relationship between Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and mental disorders. TBI can lead to mood, personality and behavioral changes. Individuals suffering from TBI are also at a higher risk of experiencing psychiatric problems such as depression and anxiety and are at a higher risk of inflicting acts of violence, abuse and neglect. Unfortunately, mental health intervention is often lacking in long-term treatment for TBI and vice versa.
To combat this problem, Bridges and NAMI NKY (National Alliance on Mental Illness) advocate an understanding that TBI is serious. Diagnosis and determination of medical treatment should include psychiatric evaluation. Follow through and follow up of treatment is also vital.
For more information about TBI and Bridges, visit http://www.bridgesnky.org/.
The document discusses the School Technology and Readiness (STaR) Chart, which is an online self-assessment tool for teachers and schools to evaluate their use of technology. All Texas teachers must complete the STaR Chart annually. The data is used by campus, district, and state education leaders for technology planning, budgeting, and evaluating progress towards goals. The long-term goal is for all teachers and students to be technology literate by 2020 according to the Texas Long-Range Plan for Technology. This particular campus's data shows that while it uses technologies like computer labs and Smart boards, there is still room for improvement in classroom use of technology.
Communication Capacity Development Presentationdshattuck
This document discusses developing communication capacity for gender transformative change. It describes an activity where participants describe objects to each other without seeing them to build communication skills. It then discusses how gender norms can impact conversations around topics like family planning. The document proposes a gender communication capacity framework where developing knowledge, challenging gender norms, and improving communication skills leads to changes in attitudes, norms, and knowledge that result in improved couple communication and outcomes like decreased unintended pregnancies. The framework is intended to measure how communication capacity building interventions impact gender-related outcomes through changes in communication.

It then provides examples of effective leads from published news articles, including a descriptive lead, a chronological first-person lead, and a summary lead from a Washington Post article about the killing of an Israeli prime minister. The document also discusses different types of leads to use or avoid and emphasizes keeping news leads concise and specific.
Visit London has undergone a digital revolution by making analytics and data-driven insights the core of their marketing department. This allowed them to move away from relying on gut instincts and luck to basing decisions on facts and evidence from tracking website and campaign performance. As a result, they have seen record levels of traffic from search engines and social media, as well as increased engagement from marketing campaigns. Looking ahead, Visit London plans to further leverage analytics to gain a single customer view, test campaigns, and better understand mobile users to continue improving engagement and conversion rates.
