This document outlines an approach to elder-directed care focused on well-being. It discusses defining elderhood beyond ageism, and identifying the domains of well-being: identity, growth, autonomy, security, connectedness, meaning and joy. Care facilities are encouraged to incorporate these domains into care planning by understanding residents' needs and goals. Methods like Eden's Well-Being surveys can measure baseline well-being. The document also discusses leadership challenges and virtuous cycles that empower well-being, engagement and results. Living more slowly and creating social capital are presented as keys to a deeper, more connected life for elders.

The document asks for feedback on working with remote volunteers and reflects on enabling new remote roles by addressing perceived barriers.
The document discusses light touch volunteering, which aims to engage volunteers with limited supervision and commitment. It defines light touch volunteering as quick and easy engagement with empowered volunteers in short or long term opportunities. The pros are that it is time and cost effective, flexible, self-sustaining, and scalable, while the cons are less control, financial and reputational risks, and safeguarding issues. Case studies from Leonard Cheshire Disability and Diabetes UK show how they implemented light touch volunteering successfully through streamlined processes and flexible roles.
The document discusses the concept of a movement and what is needed to start one. It states that a movement is when many people feel connected and energized to work towards something better. Movements are thrilling and easier than ever to create using online tools. However, what is often missing is leadership to transform a shared interest into a goal, provide the tools for better communication, and help the movement grow. Great leaders empower groups to communicate and make connections with each other, which allows a movement to take off when ideas are shared and people support each other in enacting change.
Volunteering provides benefits to both the recipient of aid as well as the volunteer. It can increase volunteers' self-confidence, social skills, and sense of purpose. Volunteering is associated with improved mental and physical health, and helps develop transferable skills for academics and careers. Even small volunteer commitments, such as micro-volunteering tasks, can have lasting positive impacts. Long-term, volunteering fosters continued civic engagement and social responsibility. Both volunteering and service learning are encouraged for all people as ways to positively impact communities while gaining personal rewards.

Illness, death or other significant loss is a serious problem that will affect your employees, those around them and their work performance. This document discusses board engagement and its importance for non-profit organizational success. It contains interviews with leaders from various organizations who believe that board engagement is crucial. When board members are familiar with the inner workings of an organization, they can make responsible decisions. However, some boards try to take on too many roles like micro-managing projects as well as setting policy, which can lead to failure. Strong board engagement comes from identifying each member's strengths and enhancing them. If an organization could increase its board engagement score by 1-2 points, it could mean diversifying revenue streams and elevating their brand. The connection between board engagement and strategic planning is also important for organizational success.

Vanessa DiMauro, Founder and CEO of Leader Networks, will share her insights on the dramatic evolution of online communities as they’ve gone from invisible to unavoidable. Until recently, online communities and social channels were largely experimental, and generally irrelevant to business operations. While they’ve increasingly served an important marketing role, the insights gained from digital channels have rarely been leveraged internally. However, it’s now clear that social business is here to stay and the firms that use digital channels to listen, collaborate, and react to customers have a significant competitive advantage. This webinar will discuss how to use online communities as a powerful catalyst to customer and other stakeholder relationships.

Mentoring is a universal practice present in almost every culture. In Africa, mentoring is mostly informal than formal. A youth can regularly receive guidance, words of wisdom from his parents, family members or an elder in the society. However, when mentoring is being informal and unstructured, it's very difficult to assess and measure its effectiveness. I therefore believe that there is a need for more structured mentoring programs in Africa. These formalised mentoring program could be holistically integrated into high school and university curriculum so that no student can end his learning journey without being mentored.

Good leaders connect with their people by acknowledging them each day. They maintain a positive attitude and focus on positive feedback rather than problems. Leaders should create an atmosphere where people can choose interesting work and lead through trust and inspiration rather than just commands or authority. Effective leadership involves listening more than talking. It also means being inclusive of minority voices and confronting cultural differences. A good leader adapts to each organization rather than imposing one style. Leadership tests your own reality and seeks the truth above politics. People follow the leaders' actions more than their words, so leaders must set a good example.

Is Agile dead? It depends on what you mean by 'Agile'. If you mean that the organizations are not getting the promised benefits because they were focusing too much on the team-level agile "ways of working" instead of systemic global improvements -- then we are in agreement. It is a misunderstanding of Agility that led us down a dead-end. At Org Topologies, we see bright sparks -- the signs of the 'second wave of Agile' as we call it. The emphasis is shifting towards both in-team and inter-team collaboration. Away from false dichotomies. Both: team autonomy and shared broad product ownership are required to sustain true result-oriented organizational agility. Org Topologies is a package offering a visual language plus thinking tools required to communicate org development direction and can be used to help design and then sustain org change aiming at higher organizational archetypes.
