A network and a digital tool to manage accelerator programs, engage stakeholders in business modeling, online mentoring, co-creation and peer-collaboration.
This document discusses knowledge management in today's digital workplace. It emphasizes that knowledge is a valuable asset that needs to be captured, organized and shared for employees to be productive. It outlines that knowledge exists in both explicit forms like documents and tacit forms in employees' expertise. Effective knowledge management requires leadership buy-in, organizing knowledge in intuitive ways, using technology to centralize information, and fostering a culture where employees freely share their knowledge.
This document discusses collaborative learning and how it can enhance business success. It defines collaborative working as goals being achieved faster for employees and employers through sharing expertise. Individualistic working hinders productivity. It acknowledges challenges like lack of ownership, and provides solutions like establishing goals and creating an open environment.
Knowledge Management in Enterprise 2.0 - Part 4Telekom MMS
The document discusses the "Enterprise 2.0 error" of focusing too much on informal use cases of social software in companies rather than formal use cases that provide clear benefits. It identifies three main problems: 1) excessive expectations about benefits from informal community activities, 2) communities cannot be business critical as they require informality, 3) informal use cases alone do not provide enough reason for regular participation. The key insight is that social tools should primarily enhance formal use cases like internal communication, projects/processes, and personal information management, which draw users to a platform, instead of focusing on communities.
Agility Thessaloniki’s Agile & Lean meetup discussed principles for delivering value continuously. It emphasized delivering value even if a complete feature is not ready by focusing on delivering half-baked ideas quickly to gain feedback. Making people - including users, customers, and employees - awesome was another principle, by understanding their needs and pains in order to craft successful user strategies. A final principle discussed was making safety a prerequisite through protecting people's well-being and relationships in products, services, and collaborations.
The document describes a corporate innovation program called CHOICE designed to help companies change employee mindsets, generate new ideas, and drive innovation. The 16-week program involves workshops to remove barriers, an idea pitching phase, selecting top teams to accelerate for 4 weeks, and a final demo day. The goals are to generate ROI, increase employee engagement, reduce time to market, solve real problems, and foster long-term competitive advantage and a culture of innovation. A case study from an insurance company that saw success with increased ideas, employee participation, and implemented business ideas is provided. The program is run by two experienced professionals with access to a network of mentors and investors.
The document discusses a brainstorming session on supporting startups and scaling up at the iEER Conference in Brussels. It provides background on iEER which aims to define solutions to boost regional entrepreneurship ecosystems. Key findings from iEER include the need for collaboration across organizations and reducing silos. Challenges and opportunities for the future are then discussed, such as how to bridge innovation and business, the role of funding, and leveraging new technologies.
“If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange these apples then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas.” (George Bernard Shaw)
Unlike many other resources that get depleted when shared, an idea or a knowledge nugget only gets enriched. From an era where labor and capital ruled, we now have evolved to a period where knowledge is seen as the key, if not the sole differentiator.
Knowledge sharing is important for organizations to stay competitive as knowledge is becoming a key resource. The old paradigm of knowledge being power has shifted to one where knowledge sharing is power. While technology plays an important role in enabling knowledge sharing, it cannot solve issues that are fundamentally about people and culture. Barriers to knowledge sharing include psychological fears, lack of understanding of knowledge management, and inappropriate structures. Benefits of knowledge sharing include innovation, understanding customers and markets better, reducing costs, and enhancing employee retention.
How to transform a billion lives in 5475 daysGautam Kishore
This document outlines a plan to transform 1 billion lives in poverty within 5475 days (15 years) through an initiative called InteGreater. The plan involves:
1) Creating a network of leaders and experts called LEAD to help non-profits and social enterprises become more effective and efficient.
2) Developing an online platform called OpenSPACES for collaboratively creating poverty alleviation solutions.
3) Building infrastructure like training programs to support social entrepreneurs and ensure new solutions can be effectively replicated at scale.
The goal is to establish a network of efficient organizations with proven solutions that can improve lives for 1 billion people worldwide.
This document discusses the importance of knowledge sharing and moving from an old paradigm where knowledge is power to a new one where sharing knowledge is power. It outlines the benefits of knowledge sharing such as innovation, reduced costs, and enhanced employee retention. It also discusses some of the barriers to implementing knowledge sharing like psychological fears about technology and lack of tools. The document emphasizes that the most effective way to create a knowledge sharing culture is to lead by example and provide the right technology and training to facilitate effective sharing of knowledge.
This report summarizes insights from interviews with over 30 leading learning and development professionals about trends in learning technologies. Key findings include:
1. Organizations are focusing on improving performance and providing just-in-time learning to support tasks. Learning technologies that support informal, on-demand learning are being increasingly invested in.
2. Learning and development departments are playing a bigger role in curating and delivering informal learning resources to support self-directed learning. Resources tend to be short, quickly produced, and take various formats.
3. While interest in alternative methods is growing, developing and delivering formal courses remains important, especially for compliance training. These courses are increasingly blended with more e-learning, webinars,

Introduction of Cybersecurity with OSS at Code Europe 2024Hiroshi SHIBATA
I develop the Ruby programming language, RubyGems, and Bundler, which are package managers for Ruby. Today, I will introduce how to enhance the security of your application using open-source software (OSS) examples from Ruby and RubyGems.
The first topic is CVE (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures). I have published CVEs many times. But what exactly is a CVE? I'll provide a basic understanding of CVEs and explain how to detect and handle vulnerabilities in OSS.

[OReilly Superstream] Occupy the Space: A grassroots guide to engineering (an...Jason Yip
The typical problem in product engineering is not bad strategy, so much as “no strategy”. This leads to confusion, lack of motivation, and incoherent action. The next time you look for a strategy and find an empty space, instead of waiting for it to be filled, I will show you how to fill it in yourself. If you’re wrong, it forces a correction. If you’re right, it helps create focus. I’ll share how I’ve approached this in the past, both what works and lessons for what didn’t work so well.

How information systems are built or acquired puts information, which is what they should be about, in a secondary place. Our language adapted accordingly, and we no longer talk about information systems but applications. Applications evolved in a way to break data into diverse fragments, tightly coupled with applications and expensive to integrate. The result is technical debt, which is re-paid by taking even bigger "loans", resulting in an ever-increasing technical debt. Software engineering and procurement practices work in sync with market forces to maintain this trend. This talk demonstrates how natural this situation is. The question is: can something be done to reverse the trend?

High performance Serverless Java on AWS- GoTo Amsterdam 2024Vadym Kazulkin
Java is for many years one of the most popular programming languages, but it used to have hard times in the Serverless community. Java is known for its high cold start times and high memory footprint, comparing to other programming languages like Node.js and Python. In this talk I'll look at the general best practices and techniques we can use to decrease memory consumption, cold start times for Java Serverless development on AWS including GraalVM (Native Image) and AWS own offering SnapStart based on Firecracker microVM snapshot and restore and CRaC (Coordinated Restore at Checkpoint) runtime hooks. I'll also provide a lot of benchmarking on Lambda functions trying out various deployment package sizes, Lambda memory settings, Java compilation options and HTTP (a)synchronous clients and measure their impact on cold and warm start times.
