The original development of regulations for petrol-fuelled vehicles, beginning in California, were based on the first successful development of car exhaust catalysts by the Pt-group-metals British company, Johnson-Matthey. Similarly, the Euro regulations for diesel-fuelled vehicles was based on the promise of the development of efficient trap-catalysts suitable for diesel exhausts. This review will cover the subsequent development of off-road tests for cars in the EU, and how the Euro standards were always obviated by the car manufacturing industry. Now that this has been exposed, alongside the worsening of NOx levels in European cities, the issue of Government and city actions which are appropriate to rapidly diminish the levels of pollution must be examined.

The Great London Smog of 1952 was a severe air pollution event that covered London in a thick smog for five days between December 5-8, 1952. [1] It caused increased mortality, with over 4,000 additional deaths reported during and after the smog event. [2] The smog was caused by a combination of weather conditions trapping pollution from coal smoke and other emissions close to the ground. High levels of sulfur dioxide were measured during the smog and linked to increased respiratory disease deaths. [3] The event highlighted the need for improved air pollution regulations in the UK and led to the Clean Air Acts of 1956 and 1968.

Due diligence to identify environmental liabilities in various strategic sectors, such as services, transportation, industrial, residential and creative economic products and mechanisms to deal with environmental damages in those respective sectors.

The Great London Smog of 1952 was a severe air pollution event that covered London in a thick smog for five days between December 5-8, 1952. [1] It caused increased mortality, with over 4,000 additional deaths reported during and after the smog event. [2] The smog was caused by a combination of weather conditions trapping pollution from coal smoke and other emissions close to the ground. High levels of sulfur dioxide were measured during the smog and linked to increased respiratory disease deaths. [3] The event highlighted the need for improved air pollution regulations in the UK and led to the Clean Air Acts of 1956 and 1968.

Due diligence to identify environmental liabilities in various strategic sectors, such as services, transportation, industrial, residential and creative economic products and mechanisms to deal with environmental damages in those respective sectors.

This event will adopt a hybrid format, allowing participants to join us either through an online Mircosoft Teams session or in person at TU/e located at Den Dolech 2, Eindhoven, Netherlands. The meet-up will be hosted by Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), a research university specializing in engineering science & technology.
Power Grid Model
The global energy transition is placing new and unprecedented demands on Distribution System Operators (DSOs). Alongside upgrades to grid capacity, processes such as digitization, capacity optimization, and congestion management are becoming vital for delivering reliable services.
Power Grid Model is an open source project from Linux Foundation Energy and provides a calculation engine that is increasingly essential for DSOs. It offers a standards-based foundation enabling real-time power systems analysis, simulations of electrical power grids, and sophisticated what-if analysis. In addition, it enables in-depth studies and analysis of the electrical power grid’s behavior and performance. This comprehensive model incorporates essential factors such as power generation capacity, electrical losses, voltage levels, power flows, and system stability.
Power Grid Model is currently being applied in a wide variety of use cases, including grid planning, expansion, reliability, and congestion studies. It can also help in analyzing the impact of renewable energy integration, assessing the effects of disturbances or faults, and developing strategies for grid control and optimization.
