AMAC is a voluntary association of 70 municipalities in Spain represented by mayors from rural areas that host nuclear power plants and facilities. It works to build trust between local communities and the nuclear industry by focusing on safety, participation, information sharing, and economic development. Key priorities include involvement in emergency response planning, independent expert oversight, compensation for waste storage, and using taxes and infrastructure spending to support local economies.
