3. SUMMARY
Teacher smiles at the
students, nods briefly
and the students sit
down
The teachers asks
about the unusual
thing beneath their
houses
Whispers of bags of
rice ran among the
students
This starts the
discussion pn the
paying of rent for the
use of the landowner’s
land
Dawan asks why they
have to pay the rent
although they farm on
it
Teacher lists labour,
need and inheritance
as the reason’s of the
landlord’s ownership
It was discussed and
all three reasons were
deemed incorrect
A few suggestions
were given on how to
help the villagers
The headmaster
comes down the
corridor and the
lesson was changed to
geography
When the headmaster
leaves, teacher
explains about the
scholarship
He said that it involves
responsibility and the
winner should try his/her
best to help the village
He also said that the
person who wins
should try to change
the system and make
it fair
He then announced
the winner to be
dawan
4. MORAL VALUE
We need to ask if we
did not understand
something
We need to fulfil the
desire that we want
We need to hold the
trust that had given
by the teacher
We need to stand up
for what is right
6. SUMMARYAfter school, dawan
was surrounded and
bombarded with
questions by her
classsmates
She tries to look for
kwai to help her but
he walks away
Dawan runs after
him but is not able
to catch up
When she gets
home, mother says
that kwai has just
returned and left
immediately
Dawan gazes
towards the field and
sighs at this
Grandmother,
mother and father
was puzzled by
dawan’s behaviour
After some time,
dawan told them
that she was the
scholarship winner
Father was angry when
he found out that kwai
did not win and accuses
her of taking the
opportunity from kwai
Mother kept quiet
but grandmother
said that she is
proud of dawan
Grandmother wants
to take dawan to see
her cousin, noi
Mother said that
grandmother was
trying to pursuade
noi into arguing for
dawan in front of her
father
Mother claimed that
it is not her place to
say anything
Eventually, it is
mother who goes
with dawan to noi’s
house
7. MORAL VALUE
parents need to be
fair with their kids
Don’t judge a person’s
ability based on their
gender
Parents should proud
of their kid’s success
We need to be
rational in making a
decision
We should not be
jealous of our siblings’
success
