This document provides information about Zhangde Primary School's half earth hour initiative led by their environment leaders. It includes the school address and contact information for the school leader Mrs. Sroya Jaswant and mentor teacher Mr. Shahul Hameed. Three student leaders, Jolie Ang, Owen Leong, and Tan Zheng from Primary 5, proposed solutions to conserve energy by reducing electricity use. The final solution was to switch off classroom lights every Friday from 12:30-1:00 pm, excluding special rooms. Environment leaders in each class implemented the initiative which received support from pupils and teachers.

1) Switch off fans and lights for 1
To conserve energy in our school by
hour, 3 times a week
reducing the use of electricity, thus doing
our part to save Mother Earth.
2) Switch off light and fans ,once a
month.
3) Switch off lights only, once a
week, for half hour .
The final solution was to switch off lights only, every Friday ( 12.30 – 1.00pm ) in all class rooms, except
special rooms ( ie : Music rooms, Computer Labs, Science Labs ). Discretion will be exercised if it was
an inclement weather, where lights will be kept switched on. Environment Leaders in each class were
the ones who implemented this noble initiative.
All pupils in each class, and all teachers teaching during that period extended their support by
participating willingly without any unhappiness. Whole School Approach !
