A computer model called the virtual physiological human aims to simulate human biology and physiology through differential equations derived from epidemiological data, clinical trials, and physician interviews. The model would reproduce the complex workings of the human body and simulate a population developing medical problems to generate individual risk profiles and enable virtual drug and medical device trials that are shorter and cheaper than physical trials.
