Modeling Utility Ontologies in
Agentcities with a
Collaborative Approach
Luigi Ceccaroni, Fujitsu Laboratories of America
Myriam Ribiere, Motorola Laboratories
July, 2002
•Modeling and implementation of domain, service and utility ontologies
used within the Agentcities initiative.
•Utility ontologies include domain-independent concepts which most
services (developed within the project) use: address, contact details,
price, calendar.
•The ontologies are implemented in the DAML+OIL and DAML-S
knowledge-representation language; utility ontologies are the basis for
the terminology used in DAML-S service ontologies.
•OilEd and Protégé-2000 (graphical tool?!), Ontolingua and Chimaera.
New tools are needed and we are experimenting with emerging ones. And
a lot of new ontologies are needed, too.
