SIMPLE PAST TENSE
REGULAR VERBS


We use Simple Past to talk about finished
events that occurred in a specific
moment of the past time.


It is formed with the BASE FORM of the
verb + the suffix _ED

*When the verb finished in _y
has a consonant before it, we do
the following:

STUDY  STUDIED
CRY  CRIED
When the verb has a vowel sound trapped between
two consonant sounds (CVC), we duplicate the last
consonant.
BEG  BEGGED
STOP  STOPPED


Affirmative:

Ex.

Subject + verb + ed + complement.
I
worked
last weekend.
They
played soccer yesterday.


Negative

Subject+Auxiliar did not+verb +complement
