Regular Verbs Formation
1) Regular verbs in the past simple tense are formed by adding -ed to the base form of the verb.
For example: play becomes played
2) If the verb ends in -e, only -d is added.
Example: love becomes loved
3) For verbs ending in a consonant plus -y, the -y changes to -i before adding -ed:
For example: cry becomes cried
4) For one-syllable verbs with a single vowel and ending in a consonant, the final consonant is
often doubled before adding -ed:
Example: stop becomes stopped
5) Verbs Ending in a Vowel + "y": If the verb ends in a vowel followed by "y", just add "-ed".
Example: play → played, enjoy → enjoyed.
