Do not develop hypotheses of the future in a vacuum
Avoid the HiPPO(1) culture

How a non-tech company approach its Box 3
What can be more basic than a shoe? It is made of leather, rubber,
plastic and some fabric.
A titanic shift in the way Nike transformed itself, from a product-
centric company to a data and social community business
How Nike’s Box 3 create more value on top of its core product?
• Added sensors and embed into the shoe to start collecting data
• Connected it to mobile devices
• Hosted analytics in the cloud
• Built social communities to log runs, join teams,
engage in challenge etc.
