Sierra Leone is a small West African nation bordered by Guinea, Liberia, and the Atlantic Ocean. It has a tropical climate and terrain ranging from savannah to rainforest. Sierra Leone was heavily impacted by civil war from 1991 to 2002 which resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and widespread displacement. Though the war has ended, poverty, corruption, and tribal tensions remain challenges.
