Harvard model of
Strategic Human resource management
•Harvard model was developed by several
experts under the leadership of Michael
Beer.
•It was developed in the year 1984.
•This research was Funded and conducted
at Harvard University.
•The main purpose of the Harvard
model is to help a firm develop the
best fit between itself and its
environment.
• This model was developed as a part of the
business policy course taught at the Harvard
business school.
• Central to this model is attention of systematic
assessment to build on strength, take
advantage of opportunities, and overcome and
minimise weakness and threats.
• Harvard model appears to be best applied at
all levels of the strategic business unit.
• The main weakness of Harvard model is that
it does not offer specific advice on how to
develop a strategy.
• Except to note that effective strategies through
SWOT analysis.
Conclusion
What we understand by Harvard model is that,
if one component is made effectively, that will
influence other component that provides much
Better results which inturn directed towards
selection of best strategies in order to achieve
the goals of the organisation.
