Minor or "flat" characters do not change much and help move the plot forward. Character traits shown early on should be relevant later. Characters pursue goals and face obstacles that create conflict and drama. They make choices that lead to consequences, furthering the story. Conflict can be between characters, within a character, between a person and group, or due to a situation.
Script - Reality
The boy was playing a violent video game as a police officer pursuing drug dealers. In the game, the officer stabbed and killed the drug dealer. The boy then switched to the news, which reported that a real former police officer had infiltrated a drug deal and murdered the prime suspect. The news said the officer was now on the run and seemed to be in a frenzied state, out of touch with reality. The boy looked worried by the similarities between his video game and the real events reported on the news.

Director Study - Steven Spielberg
Steven Spielberg is an American film director known for directing successful thriller films such as Jaws and Minority Report. Jaws, released in 1975, told the story of a man-eating shark terrorizing a town and was notable for its use of suspenseful music, camera techniques, and minimal screen time showing the shark. Minority Report, from 2002, was praised for its complex plot involving a future crime prediction system and twists. Spielberg is considered a master of the thriller genre for his ability to create suspense through elements like music, camerawork, editing, and plot developments.
Alfred hitchcock
Alfred Hitchcock was a famous British film director born in London in 1899. He worked in engineering before entering the film industry in 1920. In 1939, he moved to Hollywood where his film Rebecca won Best Picture at the Academy Awards. Over his career, Hitchcock directed over 50 films that are now considered classics, including Rear Window, The 39 Steps, and Psycho. Nicknamed the "Master of Suspense," Hitchcock received the American Film Institute's Life Achievement Award in 1979, passing away in 1980.
