Lancaster Country Day School has taken three trips to China to recruit Chinese students. [Trip #1] was a discovery trip that validated their goal but they did not successfully recruit any students. [Trip #2] saw some success recruiting two students but challenges with timing. [Trip #3] saw improvements to their recruitment process, documentation, and communication. They enjoyed visiting schools in China and their relationships with Chinese contacts have been very helpful for their recruitment efforts.

Advantages: Challenges:
ò We were satisfied with our ò The process is more complex
Cambridge relationship. [and slower] than we originally
thought.
ò The trip validated our goal to
add Chinese students to our ò We did not successfully recruit
student population. any of the students we actually
interviewed!
ò A positive outcome was sharing
the Chinese culture and ò The home-stay “sales pitch”
experience with our school. among our families needs
constant focus and attention.
