Gennady Ivanovich Shatkov was a famous Soviet boxer who attended school No. 403 in St. Petersburg. He had a very successful boxing career where he won the Olympic gold medal in 1956 and was a multi-time champion of the USSR, Europe, and winner of the Spartakiad Games. After his boxing career, he graduated from law school at St. Petersburg State University and had a long career as a professor where he encouraged students' athletic spirit until his death.
