Russian professional ice hockey player in the NHL, "Washington Capitals" is a lefthanded hitter. In the Super League Ovechkin played for Moscow "Dynamo".
Alexander spent four seasons in the American club, and now he is the captain.
In 2004 he was drafted to become the second Russian hockey player, after
Kovalchuk, who has been selected under the first number.
In the 2005-2006 season, Alexander made his debut in the NHL, having received
"Calder Trophy" for the first season, beating Sidney Crosby in the general elections.
Also in 2008, Ovechkin was awarded the "Art Ross Trophy" and twice "Maurice
Richard Trophy", "chaotic Trophy", "Lester Pearson Avard." In the All-Star Game
Russian hockey player Ovechkin took part three times.
Alexander is one of the few players who have a season scoring more
than fifty goals and gaining more than a hundred points.
In 2009, he became one of the ten best players of the decade in the NHL.
