Alumina (Aluminum Oxide Al2O3):
Alumina is a versatile material in ceramics family that contains various degrees of purity. It provides with a
good combination of both electrical and mechanical properties and this is the most important oxide ceramics
for widely varying applications. Depending on the alumina purity, particular the purity ranging from 95% to
>99.7%, these aluminum oxide ceramics have variety of properties:

Alumina Nitride (AlN):
Aluminum nitride (AlN) is a nitride of aluminum. Its wurtzite phase (w-AlN) is a wide band gap (6.01-6.05 eV at
room temperature) semiconductor material, giving it potential application for deep ultraviolet optoelectronics.
Aluminum nitride is stable at high temperatures in inert atmospheres and melts at 2800 °C. In a vacuum, AlN
decomposes at ~1800 °C. In the air, surface oxidation occurs above 700 °C, and even at room temperature,
surface oxide layers of 5-10 nm have been detected. This oxide layer protects the material up to 1370 °C. Above
this temperature bulk oxidation occurs. Aluminum nitride is stable in hydrogen and carbon dioxide
atmospheres up to 980 °C.

Aluminum Titanate (Al2TiO5):
Aluminum titanate is a ceramic material consisting of a mixture of alumina (Al2O3) and titania (TiO2)
forming solid solution with stoichiometric proportion of the components: Al2O3*TiO2 or Al2TiO5.
Aluminum titanate is prepared by heating of a mixture of alumina and titania at temperature above 2460°F
(1350°C).
The powder is then sintered at a temperature in the range 2550 - 2910°F (1400 - 1600°C) in air atmosphere.
Pure Aluminum Titanate is unstable at the temperatures above 1380°F (750°C) when the solid solution
decomposes into two separate phases Al2O3 and TiO2. Aluminum Titanate ceramics are doped
with MgO, SiO2 and ZrO2in order to stabilize the solid solution structure.

Zirconia (Zirconium Oxide - Y-PSZ, MG -PSZ, ZTA)
Zirconia naturally occurs in the form of the mineral baddeleyite. For ceramics purposes, however, it is extracted
from zirconium sand and other minerals containing zirconium in order to satisfy high standards of purity.
Zirconia offers chemical and corrosion resistance at high temperatures up to 2100°C – well above the melting
point of Alumina. In its pure form, crystal structure changes limit use in mechanical/temperature applications,
but stabilized Zirconia with Yttrium Oxide or Magnesium additives can produce materials with very high
strength, hardness and in particular, toughness. Following industries are where Zirconia is highly utilized.

Silicon Nitride is the combination of Silicon and Nitride with chemical formula as; Si3N4. Silicon Nitride has very

Silicon Carbide (Carborundum – SiC)
Silicon Carbide is the combination of silicon and carbon with chemical formula of SiC this is also called

Steatite Ceramics:
Steatite is a low cost material with high electrical resistance at high temperatures, good mechanical strength
and a very low dielectric loss factor. Such properties make it ideal for high frequency, low loss, and high voltage
insulation. Moreover, steatite is an excellent material for electrical engineering as it can be readily shape
sintered into a wide variety of forms such as washers, bushings, resistor forms, spaces and beads.
Steatite has been used for many years in large-scale industrial systems, household electronic appliances,
aerospace and automotive applications, and specialized eletro-technical instruments such as cathode-ray
tubes.
Mullite (Al6Si2O13)
Mullite or porcelainite is a rare silicate mineral of post-clay genesis. It can form two stoichiometric forms
3Al2O32SiO2 or 2Al2O3 SiO2. Unusually, mullite has no charge balancing cations present. As a result, there are
three different Al sites: two distorted tetrahedral Al sites and one Al other site which adopts a higher co-
ordinate octahedral state. Mullite has following properties:

Chemical and Metallurgy Industry:
Ceramic Foam Filter has the advantages of high porosity, good thermal shock resistance, and high
mechanical strength, large specific surface and stable chemical property. In addition, with the excellent
function of filtering, residuum collection and absorption, it can remove the impurities of 1-10μm efficiently.
The outstanding three dimensional structures can reduce the turbulence and extrude the air in mould filling,
provide consistent and rapid metal flow, improve the casting quality prominently. Ceramic Foam Filter can
also be applied in gas treatment at high temperature, carrier of catalyzer, solid thermal exchange and special
filling for chemical industry.
Alumina foam filter (JG-1): For molten metal filtering under the temperature of 1200℃;

Ceramic diaphragm electrolysis in the electroplating industry are mainly used in the following two
aspects:
1- Using the principle of electrolytic reduction-oxidation reduction of thick liquid trivalent
chromium. ABS plastic plating pretreatment of coarse liquid, roughing plating quality
directly affects the quality of plastic parts. In rough of process in the rough of liquid in the of

concentration rises above 30 grams per liter, will seriously affect the up-scaling quality
resulted in coarse liquid scrap. Roughing solution waste contains large amounts of chromic
anhydride and sulfuric acid, it will be discarded, not only wastes a lot of resources, but will
seriously pollute the environment. Abroad (particularly in the automobile industry) using
ceramic membrane electrolysis process reduces the trivalent chromium, regeneration of the
roughing solution in order to achieve energy conservation and environmental protection.
2- Used in decorative chromium and hard chromiumplating to lift impurities. In the productio
n of decorative chromium and hard chromium, due to workpiece cleaning dirtyreasons, mak
ing bath cationic impurities in gradually increasing, impurities will result in too much chro
me plating color andperformance degradation even scrapped the plating, electrolytic treatm
ent of plating liquid and power consumption for a longtime. Ceramic diaphragm electrolytic

Ceramic Injection Molding (CIM)
Ceramic injection molding is a near net size ceramic molding method, it is the fastest and the most widely used
in precision ceramic production.It also greatly improves the forming and reliability for complex shape products.
Dry pressing Molding
Dry pressing molding uses pressure,putting dry powder billet in the model and press it into compact body. It is
widely used in other industrial ceramic and obtain good results.
This process is simple, large quantity, less defect, facilitate mechanization, so it is appropriate for simple
forming shape and small body .
Cold Isostatic Pressing (CIP)
Cold Isostatic Pressing (CIP), is done at room temperature usually around 20 degrees and uses a mold made
from an elastomer material like rubber, polyvinyl or chloride. The fluid in Cold Isostatic Pressing is usually
water. The Cold Isostatic Press (CIP) in high quality version from Isostatic Press Manufacturer ABRA Fluid
usually reach 1’000 bar to 6’000 bar fluid pressure during the process with a diameter range between 170 mm
– 500 mm.
The biggest advantage with Isostatic Pressing is that the material you want to compress, is compressed in all
directions with the same pressure. Another advantage is that no lubricant is needed and high density can be
achieved. With Cold Isostatic Pressing you are able to produce thin walled cylinders and other objects that
would be extremely difficult to produce with other techniques.
Gelcasting
Gel-casting molding is a new type of colloidal forming technology which is development in the 1990s. It was the
oak ridge national laboratory Mark A.J anney professor who first invented.By further improvement with our
engineer , applied to all kinds of material system, realizing the batch production.
By this method, the intensity of ceramic body is high and the organic matter content less.Morever, this process
is simple and easy for maneuverability, it has been applied in submicron, micron grade powder shape with
complicated structural ceramics parts forming. By Gel-casting molding, it can net size forming complicated
shape, high strength, microstructure uniformity, high density ceramic body. After sintering, it has much better
electrical performance than dry pressure molding.

It provides with a good combination of both electrical and mechanical properties and this is the most important oxide ceramics for widely varying applications. In addition it can be readily joined to metals or other ceramics using specially developed metalizing and brazing techniques. Alumina Nitride (AlN): Aluminum nitride (AlN) is a nitride of aluminum. Its wurtzite phase (w-AlN) is a wide band gap (6.01-6.05 eV at room temperature) semiconductor material, giving it potential application for deep ultraviolet optoelectronics. Aluminum nitride is stable at high temperatures in inert atmospheres and melts at 2800 °C. In a vacuum, AlN decomposes at ~1800 °C. In the air, surface oxidation occurs above 700 °C, and even at room temperature, surface oxide layers of 5-10 nm have been detected. This oxide layer protects the material up to 1370 °C. Aluminum Titanate (Al2TiO5): Aluminum titanate is a ceramic material consisting of a mixture of alumina (Al2O3) and titania (TiO2) forming solid solution with stoichiometric proportion of the components: Al2O3*TiO2 or Al2TiO5. Aluminum titanate is prepared by heating of a mixture of alumina and titania at temperature above 2460°F (1350°C). The powder is then sintered at a temperature in the range 2550 - 2910°F (1400 - 1600°C) in air atmosphere. Pure Aluminum Titanate is unstable at the temperatures above 1380°F (750°C) when the solid solution decomposes into two separate phases Al2O3 and TiO2. Aluminum Titanate ceramics are doped with MgO, SiO2 and ZrO2in order to stabilize the solid solution structure. 1- Good chemical resistance 2- Low Modulus of Elasticity 3- High Thermal Shock Resistance 4- Low coefficient of thermal expansion 5- Low wet ability in molten non-ferrous metals 6- Low Thermal Conductivity Zirconia (Zirconium Oxide - Y-PSZ, MG -PSZ, ZTA) Zirconia naturally occurs in the form of the mineral baddeleyite. For ceramics purposes, however, it is extracted from zirconium sand and other minerals containing zirconium in order to satisfy high standards of purity. Zirconia offers chemical and corrosion resistance at high temperatures up to 2100°C – well above the melting point of Alumina. In its pure form, crystal structure changes limit use in mechanical/temperature applications, but stabilized Zirconia with Yttrium Oxide or Magnesium additives can produce materials with very high strength, hardness and in particular, toughness.
