William Shakespeare was an English poet, playwright and actor born in 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon, England who is renowned for writing famous plays such as Hamlet, King Lear, Othello and Romeo and Juliet. He was married to Anne Hathaway and died in 1616 at the age of 52, with this year marking the 400th anniversary of his death.
