Question 1:
ISO 9001 (QMS) is a quality management application or system. It refers to policies and
procedures that are required in planning as well as execution of business operations. These areas
are those with capability to influence the ability of the organization to serve its customers’ needs.
This system is used in integrating internal processes within an organization. The certification
covers many areas of organization’s operations including customer focus, management
responsibility, product realization and resource management among others. The focus of this
section is on areas that need to be modified in the application of this quality standard to increase
its efficacy in boosting quality operations as well as in increasing chances of success in phase 2
of implementation.
Some of the changes that need to be carried out include adopting risk management standards.
While the standard has a general call for risk avoidance, there is a need to document specific
standards that can be used for the purposes of eliminating risk to improve customer service as
product development (Kanji2010). There should be an organizational level approach to risk
management as opposed to focusing on just limited areas. Risk planning should be part of the
organization in its management processes if it is to operate sustainably in the long run
(Rao2010). This area of risk is mainly the key area that ISO 9001 (QMS) should address. There
is a need to identify the potential costs of mitigating risks at national level as well as assessment
of the overall impact that such a process would have on the operations of the organization. This
will have significant impact in easing implementation. Through clear identification of the
processes that would be employed in risk management in the organizational level processes, it is
evident that managers will be able to implement easily.

Question 3:
In the implementation of quality management system, there are a number of tools that an
organization may adopt. This tool includes the six sigma template as well as the total quality
management guide. The six sigma guide would play an important role in ensuring that the
implementation is customizable to the needs of the business (United States 2012). . This boosts
the ability of the organization to implement its quality management process effectively.Six
Sigmarefers to a particular technique that is adopted by organizations in their process
improvement (Smith, 2011). Its focus is on the improvement of the organization’s output process

of the organization. It will be employed in identification and elimination of causes of defects
within the organization. It develops an infrastructure for the people within the organization
through which the production process ensures that at least 99.99% of all the goods produced by
the organization are withoutdefect. The six sigma tool is as summarized below

The six sigma approach will involve the process of defining risks, analyzing the identified risks
and improving operations to eliminate the highest level of defects on products or poor customer
service among other challenges that threaten the sustainability of the operations of the
organization (Smith, 2011). The benefits that it would deliver to the organization would include
improved customer service, reduction in product defects as well as improved performance
(Mansir, Schacht, & Logistics Management Institute 2012).
The next tool of quality management system that will be employed is that of total quality
management guide. The guide will play an important role in ensuring that the application of the
standard is done in a systematic manner.

The above total quality management guide ensures that the system is not only implemented, but
allow well monitored after implementation. It equally connects evaluation with refining of
management options. This will benefit the organization by creating an avenue for corrective
action

This area of risk is mainly the key area that ISO 9001 (QMS) should address. There is a need to identify the potential costs of mitigating risks at national level as well as assessment of the overall impact that such a process would have on the operations of the organization. This will have significant impact in easing implementation. Through clear identification of the processes that would be employed in risk management in the organizational level processes, it is evident that managers will be able to implement easily. 2
  • 3. Question 2: Question 3: In the implementation of quality management system, there are a number of tools that an organization may adopt. This tool includes the six sigma template as well as the total quality management guide. The six sigma guide would play an important role in ensuring that the implementation is customizable to the needs of the business (United States 2012). . This boosts the ability of the organization to implement its quality management process effectively.Six Sigmarefers to a particular technique that is adopted by organizations in their process improvement (Smith, 2011). Its focus is on the improvement of the organization’s output process 3

It develops an infrastructure for the people within the organization through which the production process ensures that at least 99.99% of all the goods produced by the organization are withoutdefect. The six sigma tool is as summarized below Source: Charantimath (2012) The six sigma approach will involve the process of defining risks, analyzing the identified risks and improving operations to eliminate the highest level of defects on products or poor customer service among other challenges that threaten the sustainability of the operations of the organization (Smith, 2011). The benefits that it would deliver to the organization would include improved customer service, reduction in product defects as well as improved performance (Mansir, Schacht, & Logistics Management Institute 2012). The next tool of quality management system that will be employed is that of total quality management guide. The guide will play an important role in ensuring that the application of the standard is done in a systematic manner. 4
