Small and growing businesses (SGBs) employ between 50-250 people with capital needs between $1-5M. SGBs provide more stable employment than self-employment or microenterprises, helping to reduce poverty. SGBs account for over 60% of employment in developing countries but are underfunded due to their size. Investing in SGBs can fill this "missing middle", creating over 1 million sustainable jobs and improving livelihoods through skills development and stable incomes. A study of SGBs and their employees will evaluate how work with SGBs has increased incomes and standards of living over three years.
