In order to have healthy intimate relationships with others, it helps to have a healthy intimate relationship with God. With God, there is absence of judgment and unconditional acceptance, unlike with a human partner. Through reference to biblical concepts and teachings from the Catholic Catechism, this presentation explains how to form a healthy intimacy with God.

When darkness comes in like a flood, God raises a standard. A standard is a safe place for people to stand. Now, more than ever, darkness is coming upon us. We need to stand together, united. To do so, we need to understand and affirm the standards we share.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.
2. “Blessed are the pure in heart, for
they shall see God.” – Matthew 5:8
Clean of Heart – pure, single-hearted
constantly choosing God.
to will one necessary thing,
union with God forever.
PURITY is the glory of the human body before
God. It is God’s glory shining in the human body.
3. When some young people asked Mother
Theresa how they could learn to see and
serve Jesus in the poor, she replied,
“You need a clean heart.”
Being clean of heart or single-hearted means
that one cannot be deflected from the path to
God, from doing His will.
4. 1. Pray in every moment.
To be aware of God’s presence and allow
that powerful presence to change our life.
“God is with me.”
2. Submit in every area.
Is every room in our life open to God? Job.
Recreation. Hobbies. Eating habits.
Emotions. Thought patterns. Or one room
is Off-limits to God? “God is watching me.”
5. 3. Love in every act.
“Let all that you do be done with LOVE.”
– 1 Corinthians 16:14
“God loves me.”
Let’s see GOD in Every Person
Jesus promised that if your HEART is
PURE, you’ll see GOD.
You’ll see God in every person you met.”
6. Words for Reflections
1. Chastity – “no to LUST”
2. Lust – counterfeit LOVE
– sexual desire void of God’s love
– self-gratification at the expense of other
3. Love – self-donation for the good of the other.
4. Authentic love is impossible without chastity.
5. Purity of Heart – when we understand, see,
and experience the body as God created it to
be, as a revelation of His own divine mystery.
6. Freedom – The power to act or not to act.
– exist for the sake of love and cannot be
separated from truth.
7. 1. Admit the problem and set the goal.
2. Remove the temptation.
3. Go to confession.
4. Receive the Eucharist.
5. Use personal prayer
6. Ask the saints for help.
7. Fast.
8. Do something.
9. Control your eyes and words.
10.Exercise patient perseverance.
8. Battle Plan for Purity
1. You must make a decision.
2. Be vigilant with lust.
3. Train yourself to self-mastery & self-sacrifice.
4. Devout yourself to the real man. Jesus Christ
5. Devout yourself to the real woman. Mama Mary
6. Seek grace to forgive those who wounded you.
7. Ask for forgiveness to those you’ve wounded.
8. Seek professional counselling if needed.
9. Conclusion:
PURE in HEART
We should seek to live PURE LIVES
because to do so glorifies GOD.
1. Seeking Him with all of our heart.
2. Hiding God’s Word in our heart.
3. Meditating on God’s Word.
10. Dearest Jesus!
I know well that every perfect gift and
above all others that of chastity, depends
upon the most powerful assistance of thy
Providence, and that without thee a
creature can do nothing.
Therefore I pray thee to defend, with thy
grace, chastity and purity in my soul as
well as in my body.
11. And if I have ever received through my
senses any impression that could stain
my chastity and purity, do thou, who art
the supreme Lord of all my powers, take
it from me, that I may with an immaculate
heart advance in thy love and service,
offering myself chaste all the days of my
life on the most pure altar of thy divinity.
Amen.
12. I, _____________, make commitment to God,
myself, my family, my friends, my future spouse
and my future children to a lifetime of chastity
and purity and purity including sexual
abstinence from this day until the day I enter
into marriage.
I am fully aware that keeping this pledge will not
be easy, that it counters the prevailing notions
of sexuality, that signing it may expose me to
the ridicule of my peers.
13. However, I am willing to make the sacrifice
because keeping this commitment will benefit
my life, the lives of people I love and ultimately
the world.
Keeping this pledge will make a responsible,
mature and truly loving person, capable of
establishing and maintaining healthy and
mutually fulfilling relationships.
Aware of these benefits which I desire for myself,
I now confidently and proudly sign my name to
this Commitment to Chastity. So help me GOD.
