We admitted we were powerless over our
addictions and compulsive behaviors, that our
lives had become unmanageable.
I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in
my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do
what is good, but I cannot carry it out. Romans
7:18
Christians Step one:
Powerless over Sin
• Jesus came as a sacrifice for all humans and
without Jesus we have no hope. Sin is
powerful and our flesh desires to do things
that are not pleasing to God. God gave
humans the ten commandments as a way of
pointing out sin and by doing that people can
realize we are powerless over sin. Sin has a
death grip that can only be overcome by
Jesus.
Admitting we are Powerless
• Nothing in us is good for the things we desire to
do we can not carry it out. We all have a desire to
do what is right yet our sinful nature causes us to
put God aside and look for achievements on our
own. Humans once lived in perfection and walked
and talked with God daily. When the flesh seen
what we could achieve on our own we fell for the
trick and now for centuries we have fought to
find our way back to God. Powerlessness is a bad
feeling yet until we acknowledge God it will rule
our hearts and minds.
Desire what is good
• Admitting that we can not do good on our
own we have to reach a point of decision and
open our hearts to good. Good only can come
from God who gave us a chance to be
redeemed only by the selected redeemer.
Jesus is the redeemer that will save us,
redeem us, and restore us into a new
relationship with the father. Good will come a
part of our daily lives as we allow our lives to
be transformed.
We sought through prayer and meditation to
improve our conscious contact with God,
praying only for knowledge of His will for us,
and power to carry that out.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.
Colossians 3:16
CHRISTIANS STEPS TWO:
Prayer
• The greatest tool we receive when we become
a doer of good and seek the paths of God is
Prayer. We can open our minds and hearts to
the Holy Spirit and allow the Spirit to teach us
to pray. The prayers of the righteous achieves
much and it opens the path way of growing in
our faith. We should never use prayer as a
bargaining tool but use it to gain a better
understanding of God and increase a desire to
do what is good.
Mediation
• The mind is an amazing creation that controls our
every move and decision. Cares of this life can at
times set us aside from the things we need to
achieve. Many people feel that life is to busy and
there is never enough time in a day and desire to
simply slow down and relax. Slowing down and
making time for God is a must. Finding an
environment where we can focus on God and
open our minds to him can renew our minds. As
we clean out the junk in our minds we can
replace them with good things and allow God to
be our central focus.
Dwelling in the Word
• God gave us a guide to live by and God reveals
Himself to us in the Word. The word being the
scriptures that make up the Holy Bible. Simple
trust and hard to understand truth are in the
Bible. Scripture even states that the book could
never contain all the things of God and promises
that the Holy Spirit will direct us into all truth.
The word will be a light into our path of life and
help us learn how to be a better child of God.
Dwelling in the word means to live there and live
by the word.
Love
Love one another as Christ loves the church!
What better way to witness then to show Unconditional Love
