ENTRY POINT APPROACH
Professionalism ⬥ Integrity ⬥ Excellence ⬥ Service
• The notion of entry points was introduced by Howard
Gardner in The Unschooled Mind (1991).
• The Entry Point Approach is an approach to learning –
that any course topic compelling enough to be taught can
be approached through at least five different entry points.
• These entry points map to his descriptions of our
"multiple intelligences" and can be leveraged to engage
students in a topic of study and promote motivation
early in any given unit.

ENTRY POINT APPROACH
Professionalism ⬥ Integrity ⬥ Excellence ⬥ Service
• Gardner explains that a compelling topic is
a room with at least five doors. Students
can enter that room through any of those
doors, and by doing so they will have a
sense of comfort and increased motivation
during initial stages of learning.

• Awareness of these entry points can be used
by both teachers and students to increase
motivation and learn multiple
perspectives on the topic being studied.

Students can also be challenged by their teachers or themselves to develop other intelligences by entering the topic through a door they would not typically choose.
For CSE, we defined entry point as to where do we start to integrate key concepts and messages of CSE to the learners.

The Philippines Department of Education (DepEd) envisions a nation where “Filipinos passionately love their country and are able to realize their full potential and contribute meaningfully to building the nation.” As a learner-centric institution, DepEd protects and promotes the right of every Filipino child to quality, equitable, culture-based and complete basic education. It does its best so that students learn in a child-friendly, gender-sensitive, safe and motivating environment.
