To start, I want to talk a little about me. My name is Llesenia and I have been married with Nicolas for 2 years on Valentine’s Day. I also have a son named Adayr that will be turning 2 years old on 9-11. The pets that I have are Nina and Grumpy which are hamsters. I also have a horse named Lucero and a puppy named Little Bear. I have 3 sisters which are Maricela which is 18, Rosalba whom is 17, and Esmeralda which is 15. My 2 brothers are Isidro whom is 12 and Cristian which is 10.
  • #4 The agenda that I have are to talk about my High School and Beyond Plan. This includes my education, future goals, and some pictures. I will then mention what I did for my Community Service. I will talk about where and when I have been volunteering and what I learned while doing it. Another thing that I will be mentioning is what my Capstone Project is about, such as where I helped. I will show some pictures and the personal experience I got. Including what I achieved while doing this project.
  • #5 *Quote: This quote really represents me because I learned more when I was left to educate myself instead of when other people tried to teach me new things. I often learned more from my mistakes than the chance of doing it error free. When it comes to my education, I never really liked it before high school. I always did my school work because I was supposed to not because I wanted to. I would also forget or chose not to turn in my work. That really changed once I found out I was pregnant in my sophomore high school year in 2008 though. I noticed how important school was going to be for me in order to become someone in the future. But since my morning sickness due to my pregnancy was leading me out of my public school, I chose to sign up to Insight school. I really did not want my son to make the same wrong choices and then want to give up on what he really wants. So, I figured that the only way to stay in school and be with him was to join an online school which is why I am here. My future goals in life are to graduate from high school with at least a 3.0 GPA average. I will then apply for colleges and universities such as Kaplan, University of Washington, and Seattle University. I am also researching of places where I can find financial aid. They might include scholarships, Grants, and possible loans. I am trying to look for a Bachelor’s degree in Education.
  • #6 The place I did my volunteering hours during my senior year was the Tri Cities Food Bank in Richland, where I did about 30 hours in total. I usually helped volunteering from 7 am to 12 pm, on Monday to Friday. While volunteering I got to sort all sorts of foods to their proper place. I also gave tickets received by the customer to the person in charge of the kitchen. This ticket let them know for how many adults and children they should put food in each cart. Another thing that I did while volunteering was to ask parents for permission to give their children a piece of candy. Before handing the food carts to its proper owner, I would place a bouquet of flowers in each one just to brighten their day. When we did not have a lot to do, or when it was time to resupply the food boxes in the front room, I would assist in weighing and putting away donations. I even helped fix bags that were going to be used by the clients to put their things in. While volunteering in the Tri Cities Food Bank, I learned and experienced a lot of things. One of the things that I learned was to work as a team member. I even learned WHEN I had to work independently and HOW to do it. Lastly, I experienced how to have patience with different types of people and the different points of views they all had. Basically, the Capstone Project that I chose to work on, is to help those in need of food and supplies. I helped people receive their needed food and supplies easily and respectfully.
  • #7 These pictures show some things that I got to do while I volunteered at the food bank.
  • #8 I helped many people receive their food and supplies for my capstone projects. This project also helped me learn to work as a team member and to know what to do by myself. I also learned to have patience with people who have different point of views. The tasks I did for my project are to sort food and give children candy. I also received and gave tickets before placing flowers in food carts. I even got to weigh and put away food that was being needed in the front room. Lastly, I helped to fix bags for the clients.

  • #10 As for the summary, I talked about my High School and Beyond Plan. I mentioned that I used to not enjoy school before high school. I also noticed how important school is after I got pregnant. Another thing that I mentioned was that I chose to show my son that he should try his hardest to get what he really wants and to never give up without giving his best. Lastly, I had my plans for college or a university and what I wanted as a career. My community service experience before was okay, but I never volunteered as an obligation I usually joined my family and friends to help our neighbors rake their yards, keep their gardens, or just spend time with them. After volunteering for this project, I noticed that I do miss doing it and I also plan to volunteer more often as a hobby instead of an obligation to do it. While volunteering, I learned different skills such as WHEN I can work as a team member. I also learned to be more respectful to others and to have tolerance to their different personalities and different points of views.
  • #11 Well, thanks again for being here and now I will answer any questions you may have for me at this moment.
