Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. 16. HERE ARE SOME EXAMPLES
OF WEBSITES FOR
SCHOOLS IN OUR AREA.
21. • We suggest that you narrow your search down to 3-4
schools this fall. (REACH, REALISTIC, SAFETY)
• Paperwork can be overwhelming and it can be costly to
apply to numerous schools.
• However, if a school is a real possibility, do not hesitate to
apply.
• You may be surprised at scholarship money offered by
some private schools. It can often make the final cost more
competitive.
• Your choice may come down to finances. In the spring you
will receive award letters from each school to which you
applied. You and your parents can compare offers and
make a decision that is best for your family.
22. Requesting Transcripts
• Transcripts should be requested two weeks in
advance on www.parchment.com by YOU, the
student.
• No phone calls or email requests.
• A request sent by a college or Common App will
not suffice.
• Transcripts must be “official” (mailed by the
school).
• We only send transcripts. We do not send other
types of records (blue slips).
• Free until you graduate! Final is approx. $13.
• Mrs. Dozier, registrar, handles all transcript
requests.
23. Who is Mrs. Dozier?
She is our very busy, hardworking registrar.
25. Need more help with that?
• Where is the Career Center?
Across from the
library…
26. Submitting ACT Scores
• You must submit official test scores.
• While we do have an ACT label when you send
your scores to us, that is not an official score.
• ACT scores are not included on transcripts
• If you did not include the school on the list when
you signed up to take the test, you may pay a fee
($13) to have your score sent to additional
schools. This is called an Additional Score Report
(ASR). You will do this from your account at
www.actstudent.org.
27. • Opens Oct. 1st
• EVERYONE MUST FILL OUT OR SIGN A STATE WAIVER
• FAFSA.ED.GOV
• If they ask for money, you are on the wrong site.
• You will need a FSA ID & your parent will need a FSA ID (go ahead and do this step)
• You and parent will need a non-school email address that you can get into. (Go
ahead and make sure you and your parent can access this account.)
• If you are on FREE or REDUCED LUNCH, you will likely qualify for a PELL GRANT.
• PELL GRANT for 21-22 is $6450. The average cost of a 2 year school is around
$5000. This will give a full Pell recipient around $1500 to use for books, gas,
housing, food or other expenses.
• FAFSA also allows you to qualify for loans (have to be paid back) and work study
(on campus jobs).
28. • Join CLUBS!
• Seek out LEADERSHIP ROLES!
• Participate in COMMUNITY SERVICE!
• STUDY! This semester counts! Next
semester counts…they can retract your
scholarship is your final grades do not
meet scholarship requirements.
29. ONCE YOU’RE ADMITTED…
• Follow the school’s instructions on taking next
steps in applying for scholarships.
• Look out for deadlines to pay housing
deposits, etc.
• Fill out your FAFSA starting Oct. 1st . (You will
need 2020 tax returns.)
• When scholarship offers come, make sure you
accept the one you want via mail or online.
