■ Neocolonialism is control by a powerful country of its former
colonies (or other less developed countries) by economic
pressures
■ Intersectionality describes the ways in which systems of
inequality based on gender, race, ethnicity, sexual
orientation, gender identity, disability, class and other forms
of discrimination “intersect” to create unique dynamics and
effects.
Reflection
■ This was an interesting seminar, with some heavy,
controversial topics. I was very happy that I attended this
seminar, as I learnt a lot from it
■ Another interesting aspect of this seminar was a debate
between several students.Their input and the response
of the speaker was nice to hear

Farissi)
Summary

■ The seminar mainly focused on artificial intelligence
– application areas
– today's and tomorrow's use in business
– benefits and concerns
■ Car brands spontaneous awareness (Mercedes)
■ Turig’s machine
■ Social classes : machine learning algorithm prediction
■ The use of derivatives
Reflection
■ In my opinion, this seminar was a bit boring. It is such an
important topic for the future, but I was disappoint by
the way it was presented and the specific topics he chose
■ His explanations weren’t clear enough to me leading to
confusion and a lack of interest. It was also very long.
5. Entrepreneurship as a life skill (Charlotte
Christensen)
Summary
■ She is a Business consultant and co-founder with
Fintocat.com
■ Entrepreneur is a stage for business people, starts
new things. It’s about a timing
■ Characteristics of successful entrepreneurs:
– Passion for business
– Tenacity despite failure
– Product/customer focus
– Execution intelligence

Reflection
■ This was another interesting seminar as it was very
engaging and interactive.There was a group activity
and people were able to share their opinion with the
whole group and the lecturer herself

Dhoore)

■ Described the crucial aspects of an
ideal script for an interview
■ Explained how young people care
more about a healthy work life balance
■ How to create the perfect resume.
What to include and leave out.
Reflection
■ From this seminar I learnt the
importance of self-reflection and to be
critical
■ Overall, this seminar taught me a lot
and it will be very useful to me when I
start my job search.
■ I now have a much better insight on
how to perform a good a job interview
and create a professional resume

Reflection
■ Very interesting seminar
■ The speaker gave lots of personal anecdotes and
shared his own experience of being an expat in
Japan.
■ I often related to what he said seen as I was an
expat for eight year of my life, therefore it was
fascinating to hear his opinions on certain topics
and see what I agreed and disagreed with.
8. Extra Research on this seminar
I still had some questions after this very interesting seminar, therefore I decided to do
some extra research on the topic of being an expat.
■ Why is it better to move abroad when you are young? (Sykes, 2017)
– You will grow more confident because you are forced out of your comfort zone
– Good for your resume as you are gaining a lot of experience
– Self-discovery
– More flexible attitude
– Easier to re-integrate at home after the expatriation, private and professional
– The most difficult period for children is when they are adolescents.That is when
they make their long-term friends
