This document proposes a reference architecture for semantic agent systems applied to symposium planning. It discusses concepts like virtual organizations, organizational designs, and agent scenarios. It also covers multi-agent system frameworks like Emerald and Rule Responder. The proposed architecture uses different agent types like an organizational agent, personal agents and external agents that communicate through a message-passing middleware like Mule. The agents use rule engines and Reaction RuleML to delegate queries, share rule bases and coordinate to plan a symposium.
