Abstract:
Assigning heterogeneous tasks to workers is an important challenge of crowdsourcing platforms. Current approaches to task assignment have primarily focused on contentbased approaches, qualifications, or work history. We propose an
alternative and complementary approach that focuses on what capabilities workers employ to perform tasks. First, we model various tasks according to the human capabilities required to perform them. Second, we capture the capability traces of the
crowd workers performance on existing tasks. Third, we predict performance of workers on new tasks to make task routing decisions, with the help of capability traces. We evaluate the effectiveness of our approach on three different tasks including fact
verification, image comparison, and information extraction. The results demonstrate that we can predict worker’s performance based on worker capabilities. We also highlight limitations and extensions of the proposed approach.

On the Integration of Symbolic and Sub-symbolic – Explaining by DesignAndrea Omicini
The more intelligent systems based on sub-symbolic techniques pervade our everyday lives, the less human can understand them. This is why symbolic approaches are getting more and more attention in the general effort to make AI interpretable, explainable, and trustable. Understanding the current state of the art of AI techniques integrating symbolic and sub-symbolic approaches is then of paramount importance, nowadays—in particular in the XAI perspective. In this talk we first provides an overview of the main symbolic/sub-symbolic integration techniques, focussing in particular on those targeting explainable AI systems. Then we expand the notion of “explainability by design” to the realm of multi-agent systems, where XAI techniques can play a key role in the engineering of intelligent systems.
Not just for humans: Explanation for agent-to-agent communicationAndrea Omicini
Once precisely defined so as to include just the explanation’s act, the notion of explanation should be regarded as a central notion in the engineering of intelligent system—not just as an add-on to make them understandable to humans. Based on symbolic AI techniques to match intuitive and rational cognition, explanation should be exploited as a fundamental tool for inter-agent communication among heterogeneous agents in open multi-agent systems. More generally, explanation-ready agents should work as the basic components in the engineering of intelligent systems integrating both symbolic and sub-/non-symbolic AI techniques.

W3C’s Semantic Web intents a common framework that allows data to be shared and reused across
application and enterprise. The semantic web and its related technologies are the main directions of
future web development where machine-processable information which supports user tasks. Ontologies are
playing the vital role in Semantic Web. Researches on Ontology engineering had pointed out that an effective
ontology application development methodology with integrated tool support is mandatory for its success. .
Potential benefits are there to ontology engineering in making the toolset of Model Driven Architecture
applicable to ontology modeling. Since Software and Ontology engineering are two complimentary
branches, the scope of extension of the well proven methodologies and UML based modeling approaches
used in software engineering to ontology engineering can bridge the gap between the engineering branches.
This research paper is an attempt to suggest an exclusive hybrid methodology for ontology development from
existing matured software engineering. Philosophical and engineering aspects of the newly derived
methodology have been described clearly An attempt has been made for the application of proposed
methodology with protégé editor. The full-fledged implementation of an domain ontology and its validation
is the future research direction.

the realization of executable applications and software solutions. This includes relating
the objects to the organization, roles, rules, and compliance aspects, as well as,
business and information flow. The set of rules and modelling techniques associated
with identifying, designing, and relating business, information, and data object types
allows one to fully describe the different relevant object’s behavior and representation.
Understanding this behavior might include an analysis of the business function, roles
and services it delivers. Additionally, its interaction with the business process and
activities (input and output and the associated flow), information (objects, flow),
applications (function, task, service and flow) and data (objects, entities, data services,
and data flow) is needed to produce accurate and useful process and service models.
Figure 5 presents an example of such an eXtended BPMN diagram. This example
contains business, information, and data objects; identifying “issue”, “caller info”, and
“survey”, respectively.

The ability of having a link between the models of understanding e.g. the process models and
thereby the BPMN diagrams and the models of executions e.g. in software development it
would be UML and if an ERP system exist it would for example be SAP. Such a link between
the BPMN diagrams and SAP solution manager include linking/redocumenting information /
data flow in SAP SolMan, includes mapping the business/data/information object artifacts to
bindings in interface scenarios in SolMan. In order to drill down the various topics that may
arise, the main aspect is to identify the matching fields in SAP Solution Manager. It must be
clear, research and development starts whether SAP Solution Manager and the SAP Gateway
supports addressing the data.
