(chapter excerpt from the book StartUP Cards available on amazon.com)
Selling is skills that is common all parts of the world and it follows a distinctive pattern that is easy to recognize in countries where the prices are not fixed and people expect to be negotiating with you. They establish a friendly relationship quickly then progress through stages in the sale until they discover the willingness to buy and the pricing point then they close the sale and try and attract the person to come back again recommend them to others and to have the person leave with a good sense of a bargain and that they found what they were looking for or discovered something new.
These sales skills are lost in the advanced economies that have large malls and little to no salesmanship present. They post a price, take it of leave it, then the rest is a dry transaction. When introducing a new product or service the need to sell is an absolute requirement for success.

Emotional maturity- How mature are you emotionallly?Babu Appat
We must be emotionally balanced. Life will have its own ups and downs. How clear yourself through these is what matters. We must be able to analyse and find reasons for failures and manage them successfully. You may weep or cry over incidents which you may not like to happen in life. Your ability to manage these kind of events in life and bounce back into active life depends on your emotional health.

Fear of failure in business can be crippling unless one defines itRay Garcia
(excerpt from StartUP Cards: a deck of visual cards to provoke the entrepreneur into action)
Failure is not the opposite or the absence of success, it has to be understood on its own terms so that it is useful to the business. Having a clear definition and way of recognizing failure is the first step toward mitigating it or converting it a useful process for innovation and learning.

1\ARCHITECTURE AND NATION BUILDING IN THE AGE OF GLOBALIZATION: CONSTRUCTION OF THE NATIONAL STADIUM OF BEIJING FOR THE 2008 OLYMPICS
This study examines the relationship between architecture and nation building in the age of globalization, with an analysis of the debates and controversies about the National Stadium, the main sports venue for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. The article argues that nationalism, along with the cultural ideology of global consumerism, drives the production of flagship architectural projects in China. The dilemma between nationalism and global consumerism has led state politicians and bureaucrats to opt for a global architectural language to narrate national ambitions. The study reveals the rationale underlying the search for global architecture among political elites in China, as well as its mixed consequences for local cultural discourses and politics.

3\Good culture, bad culture...no culture! The implications of culture in urban regeneration in Bradford, UK
This paper shows how regeneration policies in Bradford (UK) have over the years been modified following local, national and international events since 1997. It will be argued that policy makers reacted to pub- lic perceptions of the city itself and of its large Muslim community in three phases: celebration of local minority ethnic culture; pathologi- zation of the same; exclusion of any cultural element from the city’s self-projection. The paper suggests that these changes are at the same time reflexive of historical events and hegemonic discourses, and likely to be constitutive (as they have the potential to deeply affect social relations in the city). Further investigation is required to measure such constitutive long-term effects on minority ethnic groups and social relations in the city.

How to pick a lock? This is a question most have had run through their mind at one point or another. The reasons why one would actually want to learn how to pick a lock may seem limitless. It could be for ill intent, curiosity of how a lock works, or maybe even to acquire a rare skill that to most seems incomprehensible. Whatever the reason, this guide will aid you in not only learning how to pick a lock, but also how these devices work.

Similar to Selling a product quickly in under a minute (20)
Social enterprises have particular needs that are different from the typical startup venture. I reinterpreted the business model canvas for the social startup with a triple bottom line.
It is hard to teach someone how to sell. While I have done many talks to young startup entrepreneurs, telling them they have to sell is not enough. Learning how to sell can only be done by selling, by doing it every day and in every way and to everyone. If one is reflective and ask themselves and other questions maybe eventually they can gain the emotional and cultural intelligence to understand how to sell. I presented this list at the end of a talk at the Unicredit Startup Academy in Milan 2017.
This is a fast presentation that shows that one can sell anything in less than one minute. It includes all the points that one need to touch on when selling. This is a simple sale and these techniques are practiced worldwide by people selling on the street or someone selling a pet rock.

The business structure and the product are not the business. The business needs to be presented as a whole that makes sense to those people who are supporting the effort either as participants or investors. Customers and supplier might also need to understand the business in these terms especially if this is a business to business model.

Entrepreneurship is not just trying to start a business and when it fails you just get a job somewhere. It is a lifestyle choice to generate value in whatever you do. With that comes a mindset that one might adopt about how they think of what they do. This deck suggest 33 words that start with the letter A to illustrate how using constraints can help creativity and each work as some significance for how to thrive as an entrepreneur.
Competitive intelligence and the emergence of quants impacting the company di...Ray Garcia
Competitive intelligence is an important aspect of how large corporations compete within an industry. It is also at the source of new innovations that have some intentional research and development targeted to capture market share or maintain market leadership. It is a technique that may be part of an existing role, but it is best implemented as a high-level executive division of the company that focuses specifically on competitive intelligence. It is to often split between the marketing and legal departments and lacks the participation of the R&D team. As competition is increasingly global competitive intelligence is much harder to do but even more important since the threats can remain undetected and suddenly appear in the companies prime markets and not leaving any time for a response.
