2. Introduction
• Seersucker fabric originated in India
• Seersucker fabric is generally a cotton blend, nylon blend, or
polyester blend.
• Seersucker’s texture creates a space between the skin and the
fabric that helps improve heat dissipation and promote air
circulation, making it perfect for summer dresses, suits, pants
etc.
3. Weaving of Seersucker Fabric
Seersuckers are woven from two beams. The ground yarn is
normally run from the bottom beam and the seersucker from the
top beam. Bottom beam tension is kept on the “tight” side, while
top beam (seersucker) tension is kept on the “loose” side. . The
tight beam wears whole warp tension during weaving because the
puckering effect is obtained by loose beam. If the warp yarn
quality is poor, the fabric gets torn out during weaving. The shed
opening of loose ends is kept little bit more than normal.

6. PROCESSING OF SEER SUCKER FABRIC:
• These fabrics are manufactured by using dyed yarn. If we use
piece dyeing, the shades of flat area and puckering area do not
match to each other. Fabric should we washed in soft flow or
winch dyeing machine to avoid distortion of fabric.
7. Characteristics
• Light weight
• Breathable
• Durable
• Because of its wrinkled texture, seersucker fabric is machine
washable and does not need to be ironed.
