FILM INDUSTRY!
You are studying how the film industry operates.
You must know the main topics which you will learn
about today.
Furthermore, you must know a range of case studies.
*Case studies = films
*Most of the case studies must be contemporary
*Contemporary = within last 5 years (but best if no older than 3)
A study of a specific studio or production company within a contemporary
film industry that targets a British audience (eg Hollywood, Bollywood, UK
film), including its patterns of production, distribution, exhibition and
consumption of audiences.
This should be accompanied by study of contemporary film distribution
practices (digital cinemas, DVD, HD-DVD, downloads, etc) and their impact
upon production, marketing and consumption.

…….think of a human life cycle (process)
 Conception
 Grows in womb
 Born
 Infant
 Toddler
 Child
 Teenager
 Adult
 OAP
 death
 What process (life cycle) must a film go
through?
 What is the start?
 IDEA OF FILM
 Now carry on with the rest of the process stages
 IDEA (don’t really need to know this)
 FUNDING
 PRODUCTION
 MARKETING
 DISTRIBUTION

 There are 6 main topics
 Like in section A, only 1 will come up so you
must know all 6
 This exam is tough because you must
remember so much information, CONSTANT
revision is key.
 If you don’t constantly revise, you will not
remember everything
 Person A wants to lose weight
 They have 6 months
 At the start they are really motivated and first few days they do
well, go for a few walks/runs and eat better
 They lose a couple pounds
 In 2nd week they only walk once a week and start eating biscuits
 By the first month they are only walking once every few weeks and
occasionally have healthy meals
 Half the time is past and they haven’t lost any weight and put the
few pounds they lost awhile back, they don’t feel good.
 They have a few weeks to lose weight, they panic they go on a
soup diet
 They lose some of the weight but are feeling stressed and wishing
they were more consistent from the start
 Person B wants to lose weight
 They have 6 months
 They start of slow and steady, eat well during week and treat themselves
on weekend. They set a goal of exercising 2 nights per week.
 They lose a couple pounds
 By the first month they are keeping to their goal and sometimes do 3
nights of exercise and regularly occasionally have healthy meals (some
treats)
 They keep this consistent in the first month and have now lost a few
more pounds
 After 3 months they have lost nearly half the weight and feel great;
confidence
 They have 1 month left to lose the last few pounds and they are feeling
confident and willing, it doesn’t feel like a struggle
 They lose MORE than they thought, feel fantastic and think….it wasn’t as
bad as they thought!
