Language, Exemplar, And Goodness Of Fit
Language, Exemplar, and Goodness of Fit
Although it is clear that human language is a very different communication system than those of other
species. The jury is still out on the issue of whether language is a really a system different from other
human cognitive systems. The status of language is a major issue for cognitive psychology.
Human Language
The ability to separate the essential aspects of human language from the properties of a particular
language can shed light on how language is developed and where the differences come from. A
principle feature of human language is the duality of patterning. It enables us to use our language in a
very economic way for a virtually infinite production of linguistic units. All human language have a
small limited set of speech sounds. The human brain has featured strongly associated with language.
The human language contains discrete units, which would serve to disqualify the bee language system.
Humans require a language to have discrete units is not just an arbitrary regulation to disqualify. The
discreteness enables the elements of the language to be combined into an almost infinite number of
phrase structures and for these phrase structures to be transformed. It is a striking fact that all people
in the world, even those in isolated communities, speak a language.
No other species spontaneously use a communication system anything like human language. All
reasonable people would concede that there is some special connection

Descriptive Essay About Skating
I sat on the couch when my mom changed the channel. Viktor was sitting in a conference meeting
about his career. I rolled my eyes as he contemplated for a moment then spoke. At the moment I want
to continue skating but I might take a break. As of late I feel like I m missing something and I would
like to find it....Or them , he finished with a playful smirk. It was the third year that he had won gold,
makes sense though, I had always placed first and he placed second. He was always behind me but
with me gone he had all the opportunity to get the gold. Father stood beside Viktor with a proud smile,
I scoffed before jumping off the couch. Our house was nice and spacious, the perks of being a great
fashion designer. I ran up to my room and pulled a white tee and black sweats on. My mother was
wearing a black suit with a pencil skirt, the usual. On the way out the door I yelled See ya mom! in
Chinese and grabbed my skates. Even though I didn t compete as a figure skater I couldn t stay away
from the ice. I ran all the way to the skating rink to meet my best friend. Bei Shu Lai has been my
friend since I quit my skating career. He was standing next to the door with a grumpy looking Wei
Wei. Nate I hope I get something in return , Wei Wei yelled at me in Chinese. Anything for you
beautiful , I said and Shu Lai made a noise. We both looked at him as he spoke in his native tongue,

Dear Friend Hamlet Essay
O, my dear friend Hamlet, I have been witness to your misery, triumph, and madness. I m unable to
tell if it was all an antic disposition? Or if were you really as insane as the sea and the wind, both
contending to be mightier in the storm? (4.1.7 8). I ve come to the realisation that not everything that
meets the eye is as it appears. A series of lies and manipulation have unravelled before my very eyes,
ending in blood shed. Blood that is on my hands as much as it is on Hamlet s.
As his closest confidant, our bond was knitted together tightly, depending solely upon trust and
loyalty. I bore witness to Hamlet s interactions, thoughts, and moods, catching a glimpse of his real
self, progressively becoming aware that his feigned madness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He once described his affection for her, stating that if you were to add up the love of forty thousand
brothers, their quantity of love would not make up the sum of mine, and although he had doubts, he
never doubted the love he had for Ophelia (5.2.255 257 and 2.2.115 118). That s why when his
mentality and actions started juxtaposing his feelings I became concerned; I was no longer sure if
putting on an antic disposition was wise. He was becoming so engulfed in the charade he was
portraying; that it was becoming a part of his identity. It was transforming him into a deranged,
ragged, wild beast, unable to control the demon within. The first time he acted out of character
towards Ophelia, she was petrified, unaware of the insanity escaping from within him. I remember
hearing her say that he looked so out of sorts as if he d just come back from hell (2.1.83 84). Should I
have warned her? Would it have saved her from her own mind and thoughts? Instead, I bit my tongue
and remained oblivious to the world. I valued the pacts of my friendship with Hamlet much higher
than life itself, and now? I must live with the burden of Ophelia s death on my shoulders.
I realised that Hamlet s façade of madness was no longer an admirable method for revenge as his
insanity was rooting deep into his soul, turning dark and menacing. He continued to confide in

Assignment 5 Sample
Business Law amp; Bankruptcy
Assignment #5
When Josh was asked, during a bankruptcy proceeding, whether he had ever been sued, he responded
that he had not. In fact, he had once been sued for intentional infliction of emotional distress. That suit
had been settled many years earlier and had no financial impact on Josh today. Josh s debts were
discharged in bankruptcy. Creditors want the discharge revoked because of Josh s lie.
Should a discharge be revoked because of a lie made in court by the debtor that had no impact on the
case?
In Dale Alleman v. Brett J. Kitson, 341 Fed. Appx. 234 (7 Cir. 2009) Brett J. Kitson and his wife,
Courtney, had filed a joint bankruptcy petition in Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of Illinois.

Mr. Alleman argued that Mr. Kitson failed to retain business records for Kitson Enterprises, a
corporation of which Mr. Kitson was the sole shareholder and §727(a)(3) of the Bankruptcy Code
prohibits discharge when the debtor has concealed, destroyed, mutilated, falsified, or failed to keep or
preserve records from which the debtor s financial condition or business transactions might be
ascertained... .The bankruptcy court found that these records were not material to Mr. Kitson s
financial condition because the corporation s tax returns showed that the business made no profit, the
bankruptcy court had determined that Kitson Enterprises had no assets, and Mr. Kitson had earned no
money from the corporation. The Court of Appeals, therefore, agreed that the bankruptcy court was
correct to conclude that the records were immaterial and discharge was not barred under §727(a)(3).
Mr. Alleman also submitted that the bankruptcy court should not have granted Mr. Kitson a discharge
because he had made a number of misstatements and omissions on the bankruptcy statement and
schedules, and §727(a)(4) forbids discharge where the debtor knowingly and fraudulently . . . made a
false oath or account. The bankruptcy court found that Mr. Kitson s bankruptcy filing did contain
several misstatements and omissions, but concluded that they did not run evoke §727(a)(4) because
none of them were material to the bankruptcy

Symptoms And Treatment Of Patients
RESULTS
This study included 30 patients (21 females and 9 males, table 1) who received 45 TAP blocks. The
blocks were performed after patients failed medication management. Twenty five patients reported
one or more abdominal surgeries before the development of pain and attributed their pain to surgery
(Table 2). Eight blocks were performed on the left side, 12 on the right side, and 25 bilateral. One
patient missed the follow up, 9 blocks were reported to be ineffective (3 patients in this group were
labelled opioid seekers), and 6 patients reported ongoing improvement. The procedure improved pain
in 79.5% of the performed blocks. At presentation, 17 patients reported some gastrointestinal
symptoms in addition to the chronic abdominal pain, while the rest of the patients reported no
gastrointestinal symptoms or complaints and pain was the sole complaint (Table 3). The percent
improvement was 54.7% ± 36.4% for a duration of 0 490 days and ongoing for the 44 blocks with
complete data (excluding the one patient with the missing follow up).
We also reported medication consumption before and after the procedure, accounting for all
medications used for treating pain, anxiety and sleep. We found that there was no significant change in
medication use for the following medications before and after the procedure: acetaminophen,
alprazolam, aspirin, baclofen, buspirone, celecoxib, clonazepam, cyclobenzaprine, diazepam,
duloxetine, hyoscyamine, hydrocodone, hydromorphone, ibuprofen,

Camillo Di Cavour And Otto Von Bismarck
Europe experienced a great deal of change during the 1800 s. Camillo di Cavour and Otto von
Bismarck were experienced and influential diplomats, having traveled Europe extensively. They were
both incredible pioneers in the unification of their respective countries. The one thing they wanted
most was unification; however, they achieved their goals in similar, yet also different ways. Both men
were avid believers of realpolitik and used nationalism to surge on their movements, in addition to
many other similarities in their mission towards unification. However, they had their differences:
Bismarck favored war whereas Cavour favored political arrangements, as well as Bismarck s main
plan towards unification was through war, while Cavour had a ... Show more content on

and is seen as bringing together the German people in his wars against other nations.4 Bismarck was
also often seen in the public and frequently gave speeches, for example, as mentioned above, his
famous blood and iron speech, whereas Cavour stayed out of the public eye and preferred to make
diplomatic deals. Cavour masterfully crafted strategic ways of obtaining Italian unification by creating
alliances and looking for windows of opportunity around tight rules and laws for dealing with threats.
For example, proving the potential for catastrophe, Cavour swiftly intervened after Garibaldi had
conquered the Kingdom of Two Sicilys and Naples and was headed towards Rome, when he asked
Garibaldi to staunch his revolt from proceeding any further. Garibaldi conceded to Cavour s plan with
no caveats and gave the land to the

Why Did Kitty Genovese s Neighbors Fail For Take Action...
On March 13, 1964, a woman named Kitty Genovese was stabbed repeatedly while several neighbors
were vaguely aware of the unfolding events occurring outside. The lack of action on the neighbors
part led to Genovese dying shortly after. Why did Kitty Genovese s neighbors fail to take action
quickly?
The psychologists John Darley and Bibb Latané (1968) were interested in the Genovese incident and
sought to find the answer to this psychological phenomenon. In their experiment, Darley and Latané
hypothesized that the higher number of bystanders would decrease helping behavior and vice versa.
The two manipulated the number of confederates during each trial and recorded the time it took for the
participants to report the simulated seizure. Their results confirmed that if were more confederates,
each participant would feel less pressured to help, leading to the discovery of the bystander effect.
The bystander effect is defined as the higher the number of people who notice an emergency, the less
of a chance that those bystanders will help the victim (as cited in Aronson, Wilson, Akert, Sommers,
2015). The importance of the bystander effect is unparalleled because it determines whether humans
will still help in a situation when there are other people available. Bystanders can deal with situations
ranging from the mundane to the dire, but what matters is the number of those who take action.
Inspired by the Genovese case, my partner and I wanted to see if the Tufts community, which

Meditation Analysis
Before I take this class, I know that meditation is just sitting on the floor, close eyes and meditating.
Because I did not know how to do it, I didn t know how difficult it is. The first day of meditation
class, I had hard time to follow. We were sitting on the chair instead of floor. I thought meditation is
only sitting on the floor. It was interesting. Probably sitting on the chair is easier than floor; we all
used to sitting on the chair. I tried both at home on the floor, chair and bed. Sitting on the chair was the
best. It was comfortable and my body was more relax.
The first meditation in the class was difficult because I had too much thought in my mind. I was trying

Investigating the History of the Universe and the Big Bang...
Investigating the History of the Universe and the Big Bang Theory
The Big Bang theory is a theory that states that the universe originated as a single mass, which
subsequently exploded. The entire universe was once all in a hot and dense ball, but about 20 million
years ago, it exploded. This explosion hurled material all over the place and all mater and space was
created at that point in time. The gas that was hurled out cooled and became our stellar system. A red
shift is a shift towards longer wavelengths of celestial objects. An example of this is the Doppler shift.
Doppler shift is what makes a car sound lower pitched as it moves further away. As it turns out, a
special version of this everyday life effect applies to light as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Life Cycle of a Star
A star is born in a high density nebula and condenses into gas and dust and contracts under its own
gravity. Next, a region of condensing matter will begin to heat up and star to glow, forming protostars.
The temperature at this point is 5 million degrees centigrade. When this temperature is reached,
hydrogen fuses and forms helium. A star then begins to release energy which causes it to contract and
shine. After millions of years, the core of the star which is helium, contracts and a reaction begins to
occur in a shell around the core. The core is at a high enough temperature for helium to form into
carbon and the out layer of the star expands, cools and becomes less bright. The core then burns out
and the outer layer leaves the core as a gaseous shell. The rest of the core cools and becomes a white
dwarf and is less bright. When the white dwarf stops shining, it is called a black dwarf.
Every now and then, a large star reaching the end of its life collapses in on itself, and then explodes
very violently. The star explodes so violently that for a few weeks the star can out shine its parent
galaxy. This type of explosion is known as a supernova. Neutron stars form during a supernova.
What is a nebula?
Nebula are clouds of gas and dust many light years across. They can be formed by dying stars as in
supernova remnants or planetary nebula. They can be formed by young stars just emerging from their
nurseries and beginning to

Although Blue Ridge Restaurants had success with expansion and joint ventures in Australia, the UK,

Real Estate Data Set
This task involves trying to give an educated guess on a linear regression model for pricing real estate
using a real facts date set using numbers and facts. Normally two approaches are used for valuing a
real estate property: income and sales comparison. The sales assessment approach values a real estate
property based on sale prices of similar properties. In this case the properties with familiar
individuality are basically on the same price level, it would be typical to use a linear regression model
to complete this demonstration. Our team will examine the significance of numerous independent
variables to a real estate value. Two important strategies to regression testing is to run all test, and run

The correlation is 41% between Bdrm and Size. We have concluded that there is no problem of
multicollinearity in the data. We also found that Price and Size have relatively large scales compared
with other variables. So it is natural to consider the logarithmic form of these two variables. We will
run a new regression in which the regressor is log (price) and the regressand Size is replaced by its
logarithm log (size). The R squared of this new model is around 60%, even a little lower than the
original model. The statistical significance of other independent variables keeps almost unaffected.
The analysis of coefficients in this model with logarithms is not intuitive. So we still stick to the
reduced linear model estimated in (a). We analyzed the OLS residuals to check for possible
heteroskedasticity for a cross sectional data set. We computed the fitted values of Price and OLS
residuals in our model. Then residuals are sorted by fitted values of Price, and a scatter diagram of
residuals is plotted against the fitted values in Figure 2. It is observed that all points are fairly scattered
and there is no obvious pattern for the dependence of the residuals on the fitted values. We conclude
that a linear model with homoskedastic errors is satisfactory for this data set. We evaluated the validity
of this linear regression model by checking the accuracy of its prediction. The linear model is
estimated by using 100 out of 105

ongoing debate is that this country, and the State of California in particular, was founded by
immigrants fleeing an oppressive government, yet this same country and state now oppress
immigrants fleeing from similar situations trying to reestablish new lives within its borders. We cannot

coffee industry, consumer behavior of coffee drinkers, store atmosphere in retail coffee shops, emotion

empirical studies show a strong relationship between store atmosphere and purchasing behavior. in
store marketing activity, total ambience and feel, in store promotions, all around music and lighting of

than the product offering itself. the results of this study indicate that consumers exposed to different
environments exhibit significant differences in their brand loyalty, promotion sensitivity, price
sensitivity and response to new brands. these differences in behavior are found to be related to
environmental attributes such as width of product offerings and promotional activity. Elements such as
lay out, lighting, color and music all serve as powerful marketing stimuli and thus play a significant
role in the purchasing behavior of consumers. Consumers who find a particular in store environment

Warning that America s health was at risk because of all of these new substances in food could reverse
many health gains achieved in recent decades, the startling news report prompted scientists into new
research pertaining to the causes of obesity. The process through which high fructose corn syrup is
made is quite complex. Specialized enzymes turn the majority of the glucose molecules that are found
in corn into fructose, which makes the substance substantially sweeter (Guggenheim 148). This ninety
percent fructose syrup mixture is then combined with regular corn syrup, which is one hundred
percent glucose molecules, to get the right percentage and balance of fructose and glucose. The final
product is a translucent and clear liquid with high viscosity that is roughly as sweet as sugar. The
name high fructose corn syrup is misleading because it is high in fructose only in relation to regular
corn syrup, but not to sugar ( High Fructose Corn Syrup Facts ). The version of high fructose corn
syrup used in carbonated beverages and other sweetened drinks consists of fifty five percent fructose
and forty five percent glucose, very similar to plain white sugar, which is fifty percent fructose and
fifty percent glucose. The form of high fructose corn syrup used in other products like baked goods,
fruit preservatives, cookies, yogurts, and other food products are forty two percent fructose and fifty
eight percent glucose, is actually lower in fructose than white

STRATEGIC PLANNING AND DISTRIBUTION NETWORK IN DISASTERS:
TRANSPORTATION, WAREHOUSING AND INVENTORY MANAGEMENT
Submitted to
Prof. Janki Andharia In the last few decades we have seen the emergence of the supply chain as a
critical competitive force in today s market. By understanding supply chain and fostering appropriate
ties between both customers and supplier humanitarian agencies and government can realize
significant benefits in the form of reduced inventories, lower costs, enhanced responsiveness and
improved strategic focus in terms of design, execution and capital investments. The term was first
coined in 1982 by Keith Oliver, a consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton, during an interview with
Financial Times. Supply Chain Management is still evolving, although it is not new. Consequently, it
has largely not been theoretically grounded, it is a concept that has been born of practice, grown
through needs and changed in response to various challenges, threats and opportunities. Supply chain
nomenclature is still in controversy whether it is supply chain, supply chain networks or value chain
networks? Melnyk et al. (2010) noted a transition from the strategically price driven supply chain to
the strategically value driven supply chain. Supply chain design is a rich aspect of supply chain
management that goes beyond issues of

How To Be Required By Law Essay
If you have or are involved in any type of crash at all, there are a few steps required by law. According
to the lesson, the first step is to stop at the scene of the crash. If you do not, you run a high risk of
going to jail, receiving a fine, or the loss of your privilege to drive. Being a hit and run driver is a
serious crime. The next step outlined by the lesson and required by law is to render aid. This means
that if anybody was hurt, you are required to help them to the best of your ability. If where they
currently are is safe, you do not want to move the person. Instead, you should call for and then wait
for emergency services to arrive and help them to the best of your knowledge in the meantime. If you
do not help an injured person, it is highly likely that you are breaking the law. The third step that the
lesson went over that is required by law is to clear the way for other traffic if possible. You should
only move your vehicle if the crash only caused damage to the vehicles and other property rather than
any major injuries to another person. If you do move your vehicle, you should move it to the shoulder
of the road, a side road, a median, or any other suitable and safe location out of the flow of traffic.

Maternity Leave Cons
What does the United States of America have in common with Papua New Guinea? Although they
both have a tropical climate and plentiful access to seawater, the true answer is much more depressing.
The United States and Papua New Guinea are the only two countries in the world not to mandate any
form of paid maternity leave for any period of time. This is a deplorable state of affairs. It shows a
marked disrespect of women s health by policy makers and corporations. In 1993, former president
Bill Clinton signed the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) into law. This act federally mandates
that businesses must give at least 12 weeks of unpaid maternity leave to new mothers. You might think
at first that this is a good thing. Women can t get paid leave, but at least they have some form of
guaranteed leave from work right? Wrong. The Act only covers women employed in businesses that
have more than 50 employees. In addition, the new mothers must have been employed at the same
business for the past year and during that year she must have worked at least 1250 hours. If any of
these stipulations are not met, the company does not have to give the woman even the ... Show more

argument could not be more wrong. Women who have good benefits are naturally more likely to come
back to their jobs after their leave ends. It only makes sense. If you ve been treated well, you ve no
reason to leave. This will increase the company s retention rate of high performing women workers. In

The Murder Night Of Nicole Brown Simpson And Ron Goldman
On the murder night of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, was a massive outburst on the
media. As stated (Turvey December 1995) both bodies were found at 12:10Am, June 13 1994 inside
of Nicole s house located at 875 South Bundy reported by witnesses seeing a river of blood. As we get
closer to the murder care of both Nicole and Ron many unanswered question starts to pile up, from

What had everyone ticked, was the rest of the evidence found, as mentioned, the bloody gloves, one
was found on the murder scene, and a second matching was found behind Simpsons guest house. Both
gloves were tested for DNA results and containing Simpsons and both victims, but as results came in
the defense was not convinced, but could have been framed by Detective Mark Fuhrman, a racist cop
with what could have been a grudge against Simpson. A second item was found, a sock as stated from
the article (O.J Simpson civil trial, 10/18/96), they found DNA genetically marking Simpson and ex

Hurt Locker Culture
The movie hurt locker written by Mark Boal and directed by Kathryn Bigelow. It displays the war in

conflicts that the tech team has encountered. Although hurt locker alludes to the typical hollywood
heroism and patriotism, in fact, it actually suggested how war is terrible and how it destroy people by
delivering 3 sub ideas how weak and small a person s life is, the misunderstanding between 2 cultures,
and the conflict between responsibility and addiction .

Persuasive Essay On Tiny House
The elaboration on how much money living in a Tiny house saves on utilities, is dampened by the fact
that municipal utilities like water, waste, electricity, and trash are not made available to illegal
housing, so you will be required to find a way of living off the grid. Tiny home dreamers may be less
enthusiastic after actually living in one. Hauling water in, wastes out, and scrimping on electrical
appliances or going without because small solar arrays are underpowered (Wyatt 40). Even the task of
getting your mail can be more difficult, if you are living off the grid you will have to set up a post
office box.The claim that you can save money because you only need to buy a small plot of land,
seems logical, but in many cases you see Tiny Houses having to be put on large plots of land, in order
to remain out of sight, so they can fly under the radar of local code enforcement agencies.
The continued claim by Tiny house advocates, that you will save money on taxes is not false, but if a
Tiny house is kept on land where Zoning codes prohibit it being there, then it has not been properly
assessed, and the proper tax is not being charged. If a Zoning violation is noted, additional cost may
be incurred through back taxes and fines.
Some Tiny Houses are built by professionals, but they are predominantly built by unlicensed
enthusiasts, as you can imagine there is going to be drastic variances in quality. Bundle that with the
ability of some Tiny Houses to be relocated to what

The Tragedy Of Hamlet
In The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark by William Shakespeare, many scholars are known to
debate the controversial topics that are present within the play. This includes whether or not Hamlet is
pretending to be mad, if an Oedipus complex is present within the play, and if it is the reason for his
delay to action. In Hamlet there is evidence that Hamlet is only feigning madness and in reality
identifies with Claudius, thereby delaying Claudius death. This is largely in part due to the Oedipus
complex that is present within Hamlet. In Hamlet it is debated whether or not Hamlet s madness in the
play is real. However, the evidence points to the idea that Hamlet is only pretending to be mad. When
Hamlet tells Horatio As I perchance hereafter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ultimately, the reason for the delay to action in Hamlet is left ambiguous but, one such credible
explanation is that the delay is due to the Oedipus complex. Hamlet sees his own sexual desires
manifested in Claudius so therefore he is unable to take action and kill the man he identifies with.
Sigmund Freud states that, Hamlet is able to do anything except take vengeance on the man who did
away with his father and took that father s place with his mother, the man who shows him the
repressed wishes of his own childhood realized (41). Hamlet is unable to punish Claudius for killing
his father because Hamlet realizes that he himself is literally no better than the sinner whom he is to
punish (Freud 41). This idea is confirmed in the last moments of the play when Hamlet s mother dies.
Hamlet throughout the play struggles to kill Claudius because he represents Hamlet s childhood
wishes, however, only after Gertrude dies is Hamlet s childhood wishes killed along with her. Hamlet
is finally able to kill Claudius because Gertrude has now died. Because Gertrude is the object of
Hamlet s desire, and she has now died, Hamlet s desire for his mother has also died (Schaeffer). With
nothing left to cause him to identify with Claudius, Hamlet is finally able to complete the task that was

Homeless Veterans Are Becoming More Prevalent Of The...
INTRODUCTION
American homeless veterans are becoming more prevalent in the United States. Research will show
that American veterans are an overrepresented population among the homeless in the U.S. A homeless
veteran is an individual who lives on the streets, in abandoned buildings, vehicles, encampments,
shelters, or transitional housing (Veterans Today, 2013). As a matter of fact, homeless veterans do not
have a permanent residence under their control. Homelessness in general includes those who fit what
Martha Burt, et al. (2004) called street homeless , which they defined as single adults who spend a lot
of time on the streets; and the chronically homeless , which they defined as being disabled and either
continuously homeless for a year or more or having at least four homeless episodes during the last
three years.
In all honesty, cities across the country are faced with challenges and disparities of homeless
American veterans. Homelessness is visible in various ways in our local and state communities. It is
the empirical individual standing at the intersection holding a printed sign of Homeless God Bless you
, an individual pushing a grocery cart filled with clothing, sticks, and other personal belongings. By
the same token, these homeless individuals may also be seen pitching an old make ship tent under
overpasses, and in nearby wooded areas. As a United States Veteran, it is discouraging and
disheartening to see signs that read Homeless Veteran

Hyde controlled the evil inside of him while talking to Dr. Lanyon: I beg your pardon, Dr. Lanyon, he

The Yeast Fails to Rise (Weaknesses)
The second half of 2004 failed to meet the managements expectations made earlier in the year. The
company estimated diluted earnings per share of $1.16 for fiscal 2005; actual diluted earnings were
$0.93. The company expected sales would increase 25% in fiscal 2005; actual systemwide sales
increased 14.8%. The company divested the recently acquired Montana Mills operation. It also closed
six underperforming factory stores. In the hours following the announcement of the financial loss, the
company s stock dropped 20%. On May 25, 2004, Krispy Kreme reported a $24.4 million loss for the
first quarter of fiscal 2005. According to the company, the poor performance was because of trendy
low carb diets, and a $34 million write off of its investment in Montana Mills. The stock was now
down 37%. To make matters worse, the company announced that the SEC was investigated shady
accounting practices due to franchise buybacks.

A Comparative Analysis Of Red Reiner s A Few Good Men
Painful Power A Comparative analysis of Red Reiner s A Few Good Men
It is interesting to see human behavior when put into a difficult situation that may force them to harm
others when they do not want to, but will anyways. It is human nature to always do what is best for
themselves and their safety, but people tend to harm others when they can shift the blame off
themselves for causing them harm. As for example the milgram experiment is a great example
showing people will cause harm under given command. This is not true for everyone, but for most
people it is. People will harm others, but kept telling the instructor that they want to stop. The
instructor told them they must keep on going, the first response would be I do not want to blamed for
hurting the person, soon as instructor took the responsibility then the they would continue to cause
pain. A movie that takes a closer look into this situation is A Few Good Men directed by Red Reiner.
Some of the main actors were Tom Cruise who played Lt. Daniel Kaffee and is a lawyer that is
defending the marines in a murder case, Jack Nicholson who played Col. Nathan R. Jessup is the
leader of marines stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Demi Moore who played LT. Cdr. Joanne Galloway is

Significance Of The Zoo Story
II. The Zoo Story by Edward Albee
The Zoo Story has been called the most impressive debut ever made by an American dramatist
(Bigsby 129). The title of the play, The Zoo Story, is a significant title as it shows that it is not a story
about someone who visits the zoo and sees the animals, but it shows how the protagonist, Jerry, lives
with his neighbors. Although they are living in a rooming house, they are isolated from each other in
their rooms, like animals, and unable to form relationship even with the landlady s dog (Hayman 189),
like the animals in the zoo who live in cages. Kenneth Krauss says the title of the play itself: The Zoo
Story,... is the play s story of how modern urban life transpires in a landscape where human animals
are looked into unnatural enclosure (68) such as Peter s scale flat, with wife, children, two televisions,
and potentially antagonistic pets (69). It also shows how Jerry suffers from divided space (Krauss 69)
in a dirty and shabby like room. Rose A. Zimbardo says that the title suggests that the world is a zoo

who is not an educated man. Albee wanted to show how the people from the upper class society,
represented by Peter, are completely different from those of the lower class society, represented by
Jerry. Although Peter is a man in his early forties, he seems younger than his age, and although Jerry is
in his late thirties, he looks like a man older than this. This shows how the luxurious life lived by the
upper class society is reflected on their

Discrimination And Discrimination Essay
It is a well known fact that in today s society there are large quantities of people from all age
demographics and all areas of the world that struggle with at least one mental illness. The unfortunate
part of this fact is that there is also a large amount of stigma surrounding mental illnesses which
causes mental illness patients to feel alone and unable seek needed help. Most of this stigma is due to
a lack of education and understanding of mental illnesses. This ignorance is what creates the majority
of negative connotations related to mental illnesses. But what would happen if our society had the
opportunity to become more educated about mental illnesses? It is important to educate people about
mental illness stigma in order to prevent discrimination and prejudice.
A study used a total of 303 adolescents that all completed a revised version of an Attribution
Questionnaire that described four different patients: a peer with a mental illness, a peer with a mental
illness caused by a brain tumor, a peer with an alcohol abuse problem, and a peer with leukemia. The
adolescents discriminated among conditions. Important variables that lead to discrimination were
blame and dangerousness. Adolescents who believed that mental illness patients are responsible for
their own illnesses believed that those patients are dangerous. This caused the adolescents to
discriminate more towards these patients. However, the adolescents did not feel the same way toward
alcohol abuse patients.

Taking a Look at the European Renaissance Essays
The foundation for the concept of modern humanism was established during the Renaissance in
Europe, which took place during the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. The European Renaissance
indicates a milestone in the shift of the human thought process. During this time period, people
became less focused on matters of theism and more focused on exercising philosophies of reason,
individuality, and learning. Numerous people developed an interest in a philosophy known as
humanism, also referred to as humanistic studies or the humanities, which challenged the structure of
society, especially when considering the role of the church. Such ideas sparked responses from a

Humanists believed that this ancient literature could reveal what was needed to live a moral and
effective life, as well as serve as a model for Latin style. Knowledge of the classics was coveted and
pursued by the intellectuals of Europe. The revival of ancient Greek and Roman texts, as well as the
spread of humanistic ideals, during this time period could not have been accomplished effectively
without certain advancements in technology that occurred during the Renaissance.
The humanist movement spread throughout Europe with incredible speed and sparked a number of
changes in society. The Gutenberg Printing Press was instrumental in the spread of humanistic
philosophy throughout Europe. During this time period there was an explosion of printed materials
and by the year 1500, around forty thousand titles and approximately eight to ten million copies had
been printed. These changes, though arguably inevitable, might not have proceeded with such
momentum without the aid of several key individuals that aided in the expansion of humanist ideals.
Francesco Petrarca, commonly referred to as Petrarch, is considered to be the father of modern
humanism. However, one might not think this of Petrarch when taking his solitary nature into account.
Petrarch was a member of the Stoic faction of humanists. This group of humanists relied on reason
alone to achieve gratification. Though Petrarch was a member of this group, he never really

Molecular And Extinction Of Fear Memories Of The Brain...
C. APPROACH: Based on our preliminary data on lncRNA changes in specific regions of the brain
associated with contextual fear, we hypothesize that specific lncRNAs mediate consolidation and
extinction of fear memories. To test this hypothesis, the Puthanveettil and Stackman laboratories will
bring together their strong expertise in genomics, bioinformatics, noncoding RNAs, genetics,
behavioral models, non coding RNAs, bioinformatics and functional, in vivo manipulations of novel
molecular players. We will employ a research strategy that starts with an unbiased, genome wide
analysis of lncRNAs and funnel down to key players, at which point mechanisms of action will be
identified. First, unbiased expression analysis of lncRNAs will be carried out with contextual fear
conditioning following extinction of contextual fear memory. Second, we will then carry out in vivo
manipulation of specific lncRNAs in specific regions of the brain to determine necessity of the
expression of specific lncRNAs in consolidation and extinction of fear memory. We anticipate that our
studies will establish the functional importance of candidate lncRNAs in consolidation and extinction
and provide novel insights into the novel molecular regulators and mechanisms underlying
development of PTSDs. All of the genomics, bioinformatics and rodent behavior analyses will be
carried out locally, at Scripps Florida and FAU, with confocal imaging experiments being performed

The story of the swan (we can read it on Feathers from a Thousand LI Away) is very meaningful. The
American Dream changes between the generations. For the mothers, it is creating a future full of

as little or as much as they want. The daughters American ness is reflected most strongly in their
relationships with men. Ted, Harold, and especially Rich, represent the American part of their wives,
which for the mothers seems frighteningly disconnected from Chinese thinking. Suyuan wants Jing
Mei to be the perfect American girl like Shirley Temple, but resents how little Jing Mei understands

The Consequences Of Being A Disaster
So let s be honest with ourselves for minutes here. The chances of this film being a disaster were high
from the jump, I talked a bit about this in an editorial I wrote this last week. Where to begin? You have
a film here that was reshot at least twice for multiple reasons. First, you have a studio in Warner Bros
that is absolutely scared to death of bad reviews for this film given out bad Man of Steel, Batman vs
Superman, and Suicide Squad were received by mainstream critics. Secondly, you had an entire cut of
the film that was scrapped because executives hated Zack Snyder s original vision. Then Zack Snyder
s daughter tragically dies and he leaves the project for Joss Whedon to take off and order even more
reshoots of the film. That ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you notice any differences in tone and have to remember that this film basically had two directors.
So it s hard to tell who is at fault for when something goes wrong and who to praise when something
goes right. From what I can tell much of Zack s premise was kept in place. If you go back and watch
the first trailer before the reshoots can see the tone was serious and straightforward. But this was a big
problem for WB executives as they forced reshoots to add more humor and color to the film and
Synder s original vision had been done away with. As far as villain goes, Steppenwolf is as generic as
they come. Marvel is notorious for weak villains but here the plot is more menacing than the bad guy
and he doesn t come off as a real threat in the film especially when Superman shows up (spoiler alert).
I also found Flash s comedic relief to be tiring after a point as well but to his credit, he and Superman
have arguably the best moment of the film.
So what did work in Justice League? DC is finally finding the balance in making a superhero movie
fun and keeping the tone in balance. We have seen DC movies take itself too seriously while Marvel
films are obnoxiously funny. Justice League balances itself in the limited time they have. The
introductions of Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg does indeed give you enough of what you need to know
about the characters without throwing the entire story out of whack. This still allows Gal Gadot to be a

New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts, drew more than 58,000 fans in 2006. While domed
stadiums are nothing new in college football, a Jackson State dome would be unparalleled among its
peer institutions.
Why I think that the government will in to be thinking how much the stadium will cost then know
much he or she will make is because if she or he do it they will not have to wormed about somebody

Conflict and reconciliation in familial relationships in Literature
Hayden s Those Winter Sundays , Baldwin Sonny s blues and Grimm brothers Cinderella describes
certain sensitive situations most families sometimes find themselves in when disagreeing on diverse
issues that can be resolved when parties are determined to. In these pieces of literature, family
conflicts are portrayed as simple disagreements that in certain cases result in family break ups and
unnecessary hostilities. These pieces of work are very explicit and affirm that in any situation where
there are facts, inclinations, and distress, there is a relatively high possibility for conflicts to occur.
However, contrary to the popular opinion, these fundamental causes of family conflicts are human
made and can be resolved when proper channels are followed in a collaborative manner as portrayed
in these three literatures. Indeed, virtually all families are at one period of time obliged to pass through
diverse everyday conflicts, but with determination and acceptance of mistakes, appropriate processes
of reconciliation can be instituted and the family ultimately return back to normalcy.
This piece of work by Grimm brothers describes a familial conflict pitting a step mother and step
daughter who is obliged to unite after the sudden death of her birth mother. Grimm brothers rues the
step mother s poor communication skills and lack of some important

The Cuban Embargo
It is time to lift the embargo
President Barack Obama stated In Cuba, we are ending a policy that was long past its expiration date
(qtd. in LeoGrande 939) in regard to the USA embargo against Cuba. The embargo started on 1960, as
an idea of the Eisenhower s administration to cause the collapse of the emerging Cuban Socialist
Regime by provoking economic pressure. In 1962, President J. F. Kennedy, formally implemented the
total embargo of trade between the United States and Cuba, prohibiting any commercial and financial
relations between American businesses and the Island, and declaring that severe monetary penalties
will be implanted to those that violate the embargo. Over the years, the embargo has limited USA and
Cuba trade possibilities, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the contrary, it has helped the socialist regime to justify all its deficiency, and to excuse the
antidemocratic reforms that has impose over the course of the years. The embargo, instead of affecting
the dictatorship, is hurting Cubans and Americans: Cubans have lived in a frozen economy, a never
ending economic crisis since the 1960 s, and American businesses are missing out on significant
economic opportunities. The embargo past its expiration date , United States should eliminate it to
finally dissolve Castros backup excuse, and allow Cubans and Americans to take advantage of the
opportunities of being neighbors, and natural trading

Taking a Look at Bull Dogs
Soft, sweet, plump, wrinkly, and chubby are some words that come to mind when describing the
bulldog. Dying, overweight, and unhealthy are other, not so common words that can be used. Connie
Chambers, 40 year old bulldog breeder states, The physique of bulldogs today is perfect. Their cute,
fat faces and bodies (Denizet Lewis). Unfortunately, the fat faces and the shape of the body lead to
chronic health issues with the dog and all of the puppies then bred from that dog. When a breeder
wants a fat faced dog they don t wonder or even care about the health of the dog. So the question
should be What about the bulldog, what about it s health? Breeders should have some limitations
when breeding so that the dog is desired and also healthy. One of the health issues with the bulldog is
the wrinkled skin. The AKC s (American Kennel Club) breed standards for the Wrinkles and skin are
that The head and face should be coated with heavy wrinkles, and at the throat, from jaw to chest,
there should be two loose pendulous folds forming the dewlap (Breed Standard). Sometimes those
heavy wrinkles cause a big health issue with the dog. Some issues can be yeast infections, bacterial
infections, acne, and eczema. Breeders argue that not cleaning and taking care of the dog causes the
yeast infections. While cleaning the dog could help the situation, not cleaning the dog isn t the whole
issue. Susan Paretts says The skin within the wrinkles doesn t get as much exposure to air, as a

The Play Chicago Movie
The play Chicago was written in 1926 by Maurine Dallas Watkins. The director of the Movie Chicago,
Rob Marshall, used all resources available, the movie starts out in a club with Velma dancing on stage.
Roxie is standing in the back her nonchalantly. Roxie had no idea was to come. Plot In the beginning
of the movie it only shows Roxie watching Velma on stage wanting to be just like her. Next Roxie
leaves with Fred Casley, and they go back to her apartment. The audience sees them all over each
other on the way home. When they get back to the room after Roxie and Fred had the affair, Fred tries
to walk out on her and won t stay. Fred shoves her to the floor and physically hurts her. Roxie came
across as wanting to have more than a one night ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was so much movement going across the stage from all directions. The direction and
choreography is obviously felt to a greater extent in the musical. The movie used the Cell block tango
as a way of giving a back story to each of the women in the jail. In the movies, the audience does not
really have to move their eyes across the stage because what the director wants you to see is in the
middle of the screen. In the musical, the director will have actors on all corners of the stage creating a
whole picture. In the large dance numbers the audience looks at the stage as a whole. Roxie does her
solo and the spot light is only on her. Roxie is the center of attention and that is where the audience s

The idea of music as a healing influence which could affect health and behavior in a positive way can
be traced back to being practiced in 357 B.C. Music was always thought to release bad energy from
the body. The 20th century researchers officially began after World War I and World War II when

  • 2. Language, Exemplar, And Goodness Of Fit Language, Exemplar, and Goodness of Fit Although it is clear that human language is a very different communication system than those of other species. The jury is still out on the issue of whether language is a really a system different from other human cognitive systems. The status of language is a major issue for cognitive psychology. Human Language The ability to separate the essential aspects of human language from the properties of a particular language can shed light on how language is developed and where the differences come from. A principle feature of human language is the duality of patterning. It enables us to use our language in a very economic way for a virtually infinite production of linguistic units. All human language have a small limited set of speech sounds. The human brain has featured strongly associated with language. The human language contains discrete units, which would serve to disqualify the bee language system. Humans require a language to have discrete units is not just an arbitrary regulation to disqualify. The discreteness enables the elements of the language to be combined into an almost infinite number of phrase structures and for these phrase structures to be transformed. It is a striking fact that all people in the world, even those in isolated communities, speak a language. No other species spontaneously use a communication system anything like human language. All reasonable people would concede that there is some special connection ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

That s why when his mentality and actions started juxtaposing his feelings I became concerned; I was no longer sure if putting on an antic disposition was wise. It was transforming him into a deranged, ragged, wild beast, unable to control the demon within. The first time he acted out of character towards Ophelia, she was petrified, unaware of the insanity escaping from within him. The blocks were performed after patients failed medication management. Twenty five patients reported one or more abdominal surgeries before the development of pain and attributed their pain to surgery (Table 2). Eight blocks were performed on the left side, 12 on the right side, and 25 bilateral. One patient missed the follow up, 9 blocks were reported to be ineffective (3 patients in this group were labelled opioid seekers), and 6 patients reported ongoing improvement. The procedure improved pain in 79.5% of the performed blocks. At presentation, 17 patients reported some gastrointestinal symptoms in addition to the chronic abdominal pain, while the rest of the patients reported no gastrointestinal symptoms or complaints and pain was the sole complaint (Table 3). The percent improvement was 54.7% ± 36.4% for a duration of 0 490 days and ongoing for the 44 blocks with complete data (excluding the one patient with the missing follow up). We also reported medication consumption before and after the procedure, accounting for all medications used for treating pain, anxiety and sleep. Camillo di Cavour and Otto von Bismarck were experienced and influential diplomats, having traveled Europe extensively. The one thing they wanted most was unification; however, they achieved their goals in similar, yet also different ways. Both men were avid believers of realpolitik and used nationalism to surge on their movements, in addition to many other similarities in their mission towards unification. Cavour masterfully crafted strategic ways of obtaining Italian unification by creating alliances and looking for windows of opportunity around tight rules and laws for dealing with threats. • 8. Why Did Kitty Genovese s Neighbors Fail For Take Action... On March 13, 1964, a woman named Kitty Genovese was stabbed repeatedly while several neighbors were vaguely aware of the unfolding events occurring outside. The lack of action on the neighbors part led to Genovese dying shortly after. Why did Kitty Genovese s neighbors fail to take action quickly? The psychologists John Darley and Bibb Latané (1968) were interested in the Genovese incident and sought to find the answer to this psychological phenomenon. In their experiment, Darley and Latané hypothesized that the higher number of bystanders would decrease helping behavior and vice versa. The two manipulated the number of confederates during each trial and recorded the time it took for the participants to report the simulated seizure. Their results confirmed that if were more confederates, each participant would feel less pressured to help, leading to the discovery of the bystander effect. The bystander effect is defined as the higher the number of people who notice an emergency, the less of a chance that those bystanders will help the victim (as cited in Aronson, Wilson, Akert, Sommers, 2015). The importance of the bystander effect is unparalleled because it determines whether humans will still help in a situation when there are other people available. Bystanders can deal with situations ranging from the mundane to the dire, but what matters is the number of those who take action. Investigating the History of the Universe and the Big Bang Theory The Big Bang theory is a theory that states that the universe originated as a single mass, which subsequently exploded. The entire universe was once all in a hot and dense ball, but about 20 million years ago, it exploded. This explosion hurled material all over the place and all mater and space was created at that point in time. The gas that was hurled out cooled and became our stellar system. Life Cycle of a Star A star is born in a high density nebula and condenses into gas and dust and contracts under its own gravity. Next, a region of condensing matter will begin to heat up and star to glow, forming protostars. The temperature at this point is 5 million degrees centigrade. When this temperature is reached, hydrogen fuses and forms helium. A star then begins to release energy which causes it to contract and shine. After millions of years, the core of the star which is helium, contracts and a reaction begins to occur in a shell around the core. The core is at a high enough temperature for helium to form into carbon and the out layer of the star expands, cools and becomes less bright. The core then burns out and the outer layer leaves the core as a gaseous shell. The rest of the core cools and becomes a white dwarf and is less bright. When the white dwarf stops shining, it is called a black dwarf. Every now and then, a large star reaching the end of its life collapses in on itself, and then explodes very violently. The star explodes so violently that for a few weeks the star can out shine its parent galaxy. This type of explosion is known as a supernova. Neutron stars form during a supernova. What is a nebula? In this case the properties with familiar individuality are basically on the same price level, it would be typical to use a linear regression model to complete this demonstration. We have concluded that there is no problem of multicollinearity in the data. We also found that Price and Size have relatively large scales compared with other variables. So it is natural to consider the logarithmic form of these two variables. We will run a new regression in which the regressor is log (price) and the regressand Size is replaced by its logarithm log (size). The R squared of this new model is around 60%, even a little lower than the original model. The statistical significance of other independent variables keeps almost unaffected. The analysis of coefficients in this model with logarithms is not intuitive. So we still stick to the reduced linear model estimated in (a). We analyzed the OLS residuals to check for possible heteroskedasticity for a cross sectional data set. We computed the fitted values of Price and OLS residuals in our model. Then residuals are sorted by fitted values of Price, and a scatter diagram of residuals is plotted against the fitted values in Figure 2. It is observed that all points are fairly scattered and there is no obvious pattern for the dependence of the residuals on the fitted values. • 22. Persuasive Essay On Tiny House The elaboration on how much money living in a Tiny house saves on utilities, is dampened by the fact that municipal utilities like water, waste, electricity, and trash are not made available to illegal housing, so you will be required to find a way of living off the grid. Tiny home dreamers may be less enthusiastic after actually living in one. Hauling water in, wastes out, and scrimping on electrical appliances or going without because small solar arrays are underpowered (Wyatt 40). Even the task of getting your mail can be more difficult, if you are living off the grid you will have to set up a post office box.The claim that you can save money because you only need to buy a small plot of land, seems logical, but in many cases you see Tiny Houses having to be put on large plots of land, in order to remain out of sight, so they can fly under the radar of local code enforcement agencies. The continued claim by Tiny house advocates, that you will save money on taxes is not false, but if a Tiny house is kept on land where Zoning codes prohibit it being there, then it has not been properly assessed, and the proper tax is not being charged. If a Zoning violation is noted, additional cost may be incurred through back taxes and fines. Some Tiny Houses are built by professionals, but they are predominantly built by unlicensed enthusiasts, as you can imagine there is going to be drastic variances in quality. • 23. The Tragedy Of Hamlet In The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark by William Shakespeare, many scholars are known to debate the controversial topics that are present within the play. This includes whether or not Hamlet is pretending to be mad, if an Oedipus complex is present within the play, and if it is the reason for his delay to action. In Hamlet there is evidence that Hamlet is only feigning madness and in reality identifies with Claudius, thereby delaying Claudius death. This is largely in part due to the Oedipus complex that is present within Hamlet. In Hamlet it is debated whether or not Hamlet s madness in the play is real. However, the evidence points to the idea that Hamlet is only pretending to be mad. When Hamlet tells Horatio As I perchance hereafter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ultimately, the reason for the delay to action in Hamlet is left ambiguous but, one such credible explanation is that the delay is due to the Oedipus complex. Hamlet sees his own sexual desires manifested in Claudius so therefore he is unable to take action and kill the man he identifies with. Sigmund Freud states that, Hamlet is able to do anything except take vengeance on the man who did away with his father and took that father s place with his mother, the man who shows him the repressed wishes of his own childhood realized (41). Hamlet is unable to punish Claudius for killing his father because Hamlet realizes that he himself is literally no better than the sinner whom he is to punish (Freud 41). This idea is confirmed in the last moments of the play when Hamlet s mother dies. Hamlet throughout the play struggles to kill Claudius because he represents Hamlet s childhood wishes, however, only after Gertrude dies is Hamlet s childhood wishes killed along with her. Hamlet is finally able to kill Claudius because Gertrude has now died. Because Gertrude is the object of Hamlet s desire, and she has now died, Hamlet s desire for his mother has also died (Schaeffer). • 24. Homeless Veterans Are Becoming More Prevalent Of The... INTRODUCTION American homeless veterans are becoming more prevalent in the United States. Research will show that American veterans are an overrepresented population among the homeless in the U.S. A homeless veteran is an individual who lives on the streets, in abandoned buildings, vehicles, encampments, shelters, or transitional housing (Veterans Today, 2013). As a matter of fact, homeless veterans do not have a permanent residence under their control. Homelessness in general includes those who fit what Martha Burt, et al. (2004) called street homeless , which they defined as single adults who spend a lot of time on the streets; and the chronically homeless , which they defined as being disabled and either continuously homeless for a year or more or having at least four homeless episodes during the last three years. In all honesty, cities across the country are faced with challenges and disparities of homeless American veterans. Homelessness is visible in various ways in our local and state communities. It is the empirical individual standing at the intersection holding a printed sign of Homeless God Bless you , an individual pushing a grocery cart filled with clothing, sticks, and other personal belongings. By the same token, these homeless individuals may also be seen pitching an old make ship tent under overpasses, and in nearby wooded areas. • 29. A Comparative Analysis Of Red Reiner s A Few Good Men Painful Power A Comparative analysis of Red Reiner s A Few Good Men It is interesting to see human behavior when put into a difficult situation that may force them to harm others when they do not want to, but will anyways. It is human nature to always do what is best for themselves and their safety, but people tend to harm others when they can shift the blame off themselves for causing them harm. As for example the milgram experiment is a great example showing people will cause harm under given command. This is not true for everyone, but for most people it is. People will harm others, but kept telling the instructor that they want to stop. The instructor told them they must keep on going, the first response would be I do not want to blamed for hurting the person, soon as instructor took the responsibility then the they would continue to cause pain. A movie that takes a closer look into this situation is A Few Good Men directed by Red Reiner. Some of the main actors were Tom Cruise who played Lt. Daniel Kaffee and is a lawyer that is defending the marines in a murder case, Jack Nicholson who played Col. Nathan R. Jessup is the leader of marines stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Demi Moore who played LT. Cdr. • 30. Significance Of The Zoo Story II. The Zoo Story by Edward Albee The Zoo Story has been called the most impressive debut ever made by an American dramatist (Bigsby 129). The title of the play, The Zoo Story, is a significant title as it shows that it is not a story about someone who visits the zoo and sees the animals, but it shows how the protagonist, Jerry, lives with his neighbors. Although they are living in a rooming house, they are isolated from each other in their rooms, like animals, and unable to form relationship even with the landlady s dog (Hayman 189), like the animals in the zoo who live in cages. Kenneth Krauss says the title of the play itself: The Zoo Story,... is the play s story of how modern urban life transpires in a landscape where human animals are looked into unnatural enclosure (68) such as Peter s scale flat, with wife, children, two televisions, and potentially antagonistic pets (69). The unfortunate part of this fact is that there is also a large amount of stigma surrounding mental illnesses which causes mental illness patients to feel alone and unable seek needed help. Most of this stigma is due to a lack of education and understanding of mental illnesses. This ignorance is what creates the majority of negative connotations related to mental illnesses. But what would happen if our society had the opportunity to become more educated about mental illnesses? It is important to educate people about mental illness stigma in order to prevent discrimination and prejudice. A study used a total of 303 adolescents that all completed a revised version of an Attribution Questionnaire that described four different patients: a peer with a mental illness, a peer with a mental illness caused by a brain tumor, a peer with an alcohol abuse problem, and a peer with leukemia. The adolescents discriminated among conditions. Important variables that lead to discrimination were blame and dangerousness. Adolescents who believed that mental illness patients are responsible for their own illnesses believed that those patients are dangerous. This caused the adolescents to discriminate more towards these patients. However, the adolescents did not feel the same way toward alcohol abuse patients. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Molecular And Extinction Of Fear Memories Of The Brain... C. APPROACH: Based on our preliminary data on lncRNA changes in specific regions of the brain associated with contextual fear, we hypothesize that specific lncRNAs mediate consolidation and extinction of fear memories. To test this hypothesis, the Puthanveettil and Stackman laboratories will bring together their strong expertise in genomics, bioinformatics, noncoding RNAs, genetics, behavioral models, non coding RNAs, bioinformatics and functional, in vivo manipulations of novel molecular players. We will employ a research strategy that starts with an unbiased, genome wide analysis of lncRNAs and funnel down to key players, at which point mechanisms of action will be identified. First, unbiased expression analysis of lncRNAs will be carried out with contextual fear conditioning following extinction of contextual fear memory. Second, we will then carry out in vivo manipulation of specific lncRNAs in specific regions of the brain to determine necessity of the expression of specific lncRNAs in consolidation and extinction of fear memory. We anticipate that our studies will establish the functional importance of candidate lncRNAs in consolidation and extinction and provide novel insights into the novel molecular regulators and mechanisms underlying development of PTSDs. If you go back and watch the first trailer before the reshoots can see the tone was serious and straightforward. But this was a big problem for WB executives as they forced reshoots to add more humor and color to the film and Synder s original vision had been done away with. As far as villain goes, Steppenwolf is as generic as they come. Marvel is notorious for weak villains but here the plot is more menacing than the bad guy and he doesn t come off as a real threat in the film especially when Superman shows up (spoiler alert).
