What is SCORE?
• SCORE is America’s premier source of free and
confidential advice for small business entrepreneurs
• We are a non-profit association with 320 offices
around the country
• We offer free mentoring
• We provide free or low cost workshops
• We offer advice on every aspect of business
planning, start-up, management and growth
We serve six counties:
o Coshocton
o Fairfield
o Guernsey
o Licking
o Muskingum
o Perry
SCORE Orientation, Training &
Certification
• Online Volunteer Orientation – 30 minutes
• Online Mentoring Training – 2 hours
• Online Code of Ethics and Conduct Training – 20 minutes
• Counsel clients with an experienced SCORE mentor
• Become a Certified Mentor
• Attend Monthly Chapter Meetings
• Attend available workshop sessions
SCORE provides training to provisional members.
The first 3 months of training are guided by a
dedicated mentor:
Expectations of Trained Volunteers
Mentoring Volunteers
• Volunteer weekly as a counselor/mentor for clients – as little as 2
hours/week
• Serve on the Executive Board and/or within a committee – 2-4 hours/month
• Attend monthly Chapter meetings – 2 hours/month
SCORE Volunteers do NOT pay dues, they only donate their time , talent and travel.

Volunteer Opportunities
Ways to Get Involved:
• Business mentors
• Workshop instructors
• Community Ambassadors
• Chapter roles: marketing, education,
fundraising, recruiting
• Skill specific volunteers (e.g. finance,
accounting, legal)
With SCORE, you’ll be part of an extended team of volunteers representing all facets of the
business community. Some volunteers have worked as top executives at Fortune 500
companies. Some have been entrepreneurs and small business owners. Others have
valuable experience in universities, government or the military. Whatever your skills and
strengths, you can put them to work for SCORE.

Protecting Our Clients
Code of Ethics
In order to protect our clients, SCORE has a code of ethics that
you will need to agree to and sign annually. Our code of ethics,
includes:
• SCORE members are unable to make money
in any way from SCORE clients.
• Volunteer may not use our client or member
database for commercial reasons.

What is SCORE? • SCORE is America’s premier source of free and confidential advice for small business entrepreneurs • We are a non-profit association with 320 offices around the country • We offer free mentoring • We provide free or low cost workshops • We offer advice on every aspect of business planning, start-up, management and growth
  • 3. We serve six counties: o Coshocton o Fairfield o Guernsey o Licking o Muskingum o Perry
  • 4. SCORE Orientation, Training & Certification • Online Volunteer Orientation – 30 minutes • Online Mentoring Training – 2 hours • Online Code of Ethics and Conduct Training – 20 minutes • Counsel clients with an experienced SCORE mentor • Become a Certified Mentor • Attend Monthly Chapter Meetings • Attend available workshop sessions SCORE provides training to provisional members. The first 3 months of training are guided by a dedicated mentor:

Expectations of Trained Volunteers Mentoring Volunteers • Volunteer weekly as a counselor/mentor for clients – as little as 2 hours/week • Serve on the Executive Board and/or within a committee – 2-4 hours/month • Attend monthly Chapter meetings – 2 hours/month SCORE Volunteers do NOT pay dues, they only donate their time , talent and travel. Can you spare 8 hours a month? In return you receive the satisfaction of helping your community, and gain recognition and respect as a business mentor

Who do we serve? • Early stage entrepreneurs, who are considering to start a business but who need help defining their ideas, building their plan and obtaining financing • Start-up businesses, who are seeking to grow their business and manage their finances • Established businesses, who are seeking to grow their business and increase their clients

Volunteer Opportunities Ways to Get Involved: • Business mentors • Workshop instructors • Community Ambassadors • Chapter roles: marketing, education, fundraising, recruiting • Skill specific volunteers (e.g. finance, accounting, legal) With SCORE, you’ll be part of an extended team of volunteers representing all facets of the business community. Some volunteers have worked as top executives at Fortune 500 companies. Some have been entrepreneurs and small business owners. Others have valuable experience in universities, government or the military. Whatever your skills and strengths, you can put them to work for SCORE.
  • 21. Our Ethics Protecting Our Clients Code of Ethics In order to protect our clients, SCORE has a code of ethics that you will need to agree to and sign annually. Our code of ethics, includes: • SCORE members are unable to make money in any way from SCORE clients. • Volunteer may not use our client or member database for commercial reasons.
  • 22. Don’t Worry Score Cannot Recommend a single bank Make promises about loan decisions, fees or pricing Breach Confidentiality agreement Accept any fees for mentoring clients

Spread the word • There is such a demand for our services, we always need more volunteers. • There are many potential volunteers in East Central Ohio.
