3. 1. INTRODUCTION
โข Collaborative forest: a working partnership
between the key stakeholders in the
management of a given forest
1. local forest users
2. state forest departments, as well as
3. parties such as local governments, civil
groups and non-governmental organizations,
and the private sector.
4. Scientific Forest Management
Scientific forest management is a systematic
application of forestry science knowledge for
management of forest based on the current
assessment of attributes of forest crop to maximize
and sustain benefits (including indirect benefits such
as environmental ,ecosystem services) acquiring
from the forest scientific forest management
essentially follows silvicultural system.

5. Concept of Collaborative Forest
Management
โข Community forest meet only surrounding users
โข Do not address the needs of distant users who are
traditional users
โข Government has carried out revise forest sector
policy 2000 to manage the block forest in Terai
and Siwalik to address the issues.
โข Collaborative Forest Directives 2060 and revised
2068 BS are primary directives for formulation and
management of Collaborative forest.
โข BISEPST initiated the collaborative forest program
and Sabaiya, Parsa is the first collaborative forest
of Nepal.
โข Till now we have 21 Collaborative forest in Nepal.

General Objective:
โข To provide guidance to manage the
Collaborative Forest Scientifically and
produce sustained Yield.
Specific Objectives:
โข To delineate forest boundary and blocking
โข Stem mapping of felling area
โข To assess forest Condition

โข Mother trees are selected on the basis of
