Science Fair Project Paper




       The process of carrying out the science fair project was enjoyable. I’m glad you

gave us class time to complete most of it. I had forgotten a lot of the steps that go into

carrying out a science experiment (such as hypothesis, procedure, data and results,

conclusion, etc.) so I think it was good to review all of those terms. I was also glad that

we got to pick what project we carried out instead of being assigned something. I really

enjoyed carrying out the experiment my group chose and I think we all worked well

together. I learned new experiments to carry out in my own class someday, like which

soda stains the worst, and the experiments were things that kids would enjoy watching. I

actually learned a lot of cool new stuff that I didn’t know, such as Duracell lasts longer

than Energizer batteries and Pepsi fizzes more than Coke.

       I think that it would be valuable to hold a science fair in the class because it gives

kids an opportunity to explore and test ideas to find an end result. There are so many

interesting ideas to investigate and I think by allowing kids to choose their topics and

work with partners or small groups, that kids could really enjoy making these boards. It

also lets you as the teacher introduce the topics that help you carry out the experiment

(example: how to form a hypothesis, conclusion, making graphs for data, etc.). You

could easily incorporate Math into these projects by calculating averages and reading

graphs. Kids also get to look at their peers work and learn new ideas from their

classmates. These are some of the benefits I thought of for the science projects.
